I say we go with the safe® option, then.

I would too, but Xiran has equal level of Stargate aptitude and could probably make the keypad shortcircuit or something and kill Ileein.

Awkward.
Rika2010-02-16 05:37:11
Does he HAVE to choose to use one?

Is interacting with the alien thing likely to make aliens tunnel out of the ground and eat everyone?

I say safe option o.o

No. Generally speaking, tampering with ancient devices causes the entire party to be subjected to a near-death experience that we all escape from more or less intact. At one point, Jack even had the entire repository of Ancient knowledge downloaded into his brain for a few weeks. Unfortunately, he ended up transforming into an Ancient and almost dying as a result of it. Needed outside alien help to save his life.

But still, a week of ancient knowledge was pretty sweet.

It's up to Ileen, both have potential.

Wait- why is there a keypad in this room? Keypads usually are next to doors. Or safes.
Arix2010-02-16 05:58:24
The keypad IS by a door. pay attention. Also, it could just be there to keep people away from the glowy thing

Or maybe the keypad tunes the ring portal stone thingy which might be in the area?
Furien2010-02-16 06:11:07
We -are- supposed to step out from a Stargate, technically. Plus that device was mentioned in the first post. Hmm hmm.
Unknown2010-02-16 06:11:52
What device? I don't remember any device.
Tekora2010-02-16 06:11:58
I'm going to go the road less travelled and vote for Ominous Glowing Device.

Stargate Mafia

You've stepped through the Stargate to save the galaxy once more! when the tunnel of light seems to veer in the wrong direction. Trapped as you are in the wormhole, there's nothing you can do as your vision fades to black. When you regain consciousness, you find yourself in a cramped room. And some ominously glowing device in the background, but no one's paying attention to that.
There are aliens among us.

Unknown2010-02-16 06:14:53
But... no one was paying attention to that. It was just there!
Arix2010-02-16 06:26:22
I say poke the glowy thing. Glowy things are always interesting
Arix2010-02-16 06:27:19
no wait, the keypad probably opens the door, let's fiddle with that instead
Mirami2010-02-16 06:34:47
Whatever gets me to the butterflies first.

In the meantime, UNVOTE while we see what happens.
Ileein2010-02-16 11:57:33
Oh no. Choice.

Let's see, safe keypad thingy or ominous glowy thingy with potential for awesome but much greater potential for extremely dangerous things happening? Hmm.

Honestly, we're all assuming we want this door open. But do we really? *agonizes*

Interface with keypad thingy and hope fervently we don't die.
Siam2010-02-16 12:46:53
I say we look at that neon sign that says Siam is begging to join Riluna in stasis.
Ileein2010-02-16 13:18:13
Oh. And unvote while I'm at it.
