Most of this thread is metagaming in some way or another.

All taking the form of comments that run from clearly tongue in cheek to passive aggressively talking to the admins.
Since nobody here is being objective, or even if they wanted to, has the omniscience that would be required to be so in this case, better just to state the individual want.
Hence, I want Templars. Because I'm a knight and it's the guild I'm waiting for. That said, guardians have "MOAR NOO STUFF".
As for the discussion about knight tertiaries- of course they need to be useful and balanced for knights. If the approach is "design them for guardians, and any benefit they confer to knights is left to the capricious winds of coincidence", you run into balance problems running both ways. Look at hw sacraments was for a long time. Now, look at Night. Or Necromancy. That sort of disparity isn't really something that you want to have.

Can we just agree that either choice is valid and anyone railing hard one way or another is looking out for their own interests, ergo the side with the majority is most likely to win out for that simple reason?

I'm assuming that the decision as to which new guilds we get has some kind of IC basis, though. Honestly, I've no idea why the admin would even leave this up to player choice.

How is that an IC argument? You're bringing "RP" into it, which automatically makes this an OOC argument. Point is, there are many IC arguments but the ones that will matter in the end at the OOC arguments. If you want to bring "personal agendas" into this, I wouldn't even be arguing. I already know that the majority of people will want guardians, if only for the Oooooh factor. Unfortunately, only a small minority who wish to see guardians open actually see the logic (I'm talking about OOC here, as I've already pointed out that IC arguments are worthless) in opening warriors first.

You're missing the point, though. It's both an OOC and IC argument. That's why it's pretty much watertight. All the other arguments are either meaningless, wrong, or blatantly OOC (complete with metagamer rationale).
Or, to break it down:
IC: We should have guardians first because we've planes we know nothing about, other than they're replete with spiritual, scientific and cultural importance.
OOC: We should have guardians first because we know that they're going to provide the RP missing from the two new orgs, and actually confer some kind of purpose upon the new planes which will not be provided by the warrior guilds.
Also, RP response to skill-based arguments: the idea of warriors getting a new Rituals spec before the new guardian guilds are out is broken RP in of itself. Look at Sacraments, Night, Necromancy, et al. They all come from the guardian guilds first and foremost, and the warrior guilds just kind of borrow them to their own ends.

I think this is a good point. Whether or not warriors work better to get first mechanically, guardians are going to bring more to the table for the cities to flesh themselves out with.

That is going from the assumption warriors know nothing about the cosmic plane. Which is blatantly false since rituals specializations come from these planes so the warriors at least have rudimentary knowledge of it.
RP wise people can argue either way, and saying one argument can only be supported with 'valid RP' is just placing your own RP above that of others but doesn't make it true.

Except for as was said before, people. I know of a few aeromancers who plan to hop the second the researchers open. A majority of the starting researchers are probably going to have been aeromancers just a few minutes before.

Except that there are already times when aeromancers are under half the citizens logged in. Like right now, 7 citizens / 4 aeromancers. I log off and it's half/half so there are already people waiting.
Member count is sitting at 46 and it's bad if that is being pushed up by people sitting around waiting for guardian especially because atleast 2-4 officials are apparently looking at leaving too so you have a guild where lots of people are just waiting to leave.
Do you actually have a point other than opening the researchers showing everyone just how many people are willing to stay as aeromancers once they have another choice?

Also, I see more rogue warriors waiting for a guild in the city than rogue guardians. At least in Hallifax. I know of ONE rogue in the city waiting for guardians. Am I missing anyone other than Shulamit.
