I've doodled them on the sides of notes in class before. Not too great at it yet. Believe me, you all don't want me to post EVERY DRAWING I do here, it would just get ridiculous. tongue.gif

Very messily-colored WIP of what I'm working on right now:

BLUH BLUH I HATE DRAWING LIKE THIS, it takes me ages and makes me want to bite my hands off after a while. Don't color in things besides solids much anymore, so hopefully I don't screw up the shading on this too badly.

Any horrible mistakes I'm overlooking so far?

I can already tell I'm going to hate myself for having big drastic shadows. My coloring is so sloppy! I hate brushes that auto-blend... blackeye.gif I need another break from this. Bluh.

Once again looking for anyone to point out mistakes I've overlooked because I seem to only ever work on this at six in the morning.

I am using quick MSPaint doodles to express my disdain with a drawing of a certain lady.

Shadows are too dramatic! Instead of looking like a shadow, it just makes you look...downright charred.

Well it'll probably look less like that when I shade something besides just the skin too laugh.gif it does look kinda funky right now. Especially since the eyes and such are still bright white. This is a job for...someone who hasn't been awake for a long time. I'm going to fix that particular problem right now, pardon me.

zzzzz

I actually think that the problem is that you haven't actually got any dark areas of shadow. Most of the shading is in the medium range with only a very slight hint of deeper shading around the nose, neck and cheek. It makes the face look kind of flat, and the shadowed area you have appear sort of 'muddy.' Particularly if you have a strong light source coming from the right (which I assume, given the rather abrupt change from lighted area to shadowed on the face), you need to have much deeper shadows going on on the far left side, IMO.

Yeah, ugh, you're right. I always have problems with dark shadows when I use soft colors. I'll stop being a baby and just add more.

See, this is why I come to you guys! laugh.gif

Don't worry Phoe, I'll put lips on you eventually.

Some of the shadows, particularly in the chin area, are kind of bugging me but I couldn't figure out why. Halp?
