I like, instead of Slivvens doing module damage, instead, they increase aetherwill cost. It will give people a "personal" motivation

That doesn't help! You need to tell us what environment and I know it can't be void because ships can't go there. Slipstreams? Flux? Shift?

@Anisu: And since Estarra stated only a limited number of vortexes can spawn in an environment per hour, maybe somebody else went out just before you and used up all the spawns?

So one hunting crew gets all the vortexes and the rest get nothing unless they want to go out of their way to kill the other ship. Doesn't seem right.

Aha! That's called "aether" environment. It wasn't set up to spawn many vortexes so you could be right that someone else beat you to it.

I've just updated that environment so you should be able to get a lot more in pure aether!

Here's my bitching about slivven. Today's aetherhunt in The Hammer was the first time I've met them from the hunts. They spawn a bit too fast imho. One person has to basically patrol the ship and miss out on the aetherhunting or each person has to kill their own slivven. That wouldn't be a terrible problem, but 95% of systems rely on a person's prompt in order to heal/sip, so a person would have to unlink their module to fight, and lock back in when the slivven is dead. I realize that the admin really want to find a way to keep people awake for aetherhunting, but this is a bit much.

Something that MIGHT make this better is.. a room message when they appear, and perhaps when the ship calls out, have it call out what module it's hitting. Something to keep people from just ignoring the slivven would be to have the ship remind you that it's being attacked every so often.

No they don't. When was the last time you used 'LOOK' when in an aethership? I've usually had the empath call it out for the roving slivven hunter.

They don't have a room message when they hit a module, I don't think, though damage to the module does pop up. The ship says it's been infested; the empath can then check the modules to see which actually has parasites. You can see them in the room if you LOOK, of course.

No, there's no room message, just a mob that's suddenly there. No message when it appears, aside from the ship saying that it has been infected.

So, the empath triggers the infested line to check modules, and yells over shipt the module...

Your module suddenly getting 'light damage' is a pretty good indicator that there's one there too.

Yeah, we got that. It's more that people have to unlock to fight them, and the constant paralysis/charybdon/breaking of arms which might be charybdon/aeon isn't very much fun.

Looks like fun to me. I might actually want to join an aetherhunt now just to whack slivven...

I believe that analyzing a ship already gives you this information. It may also trigger screech, however ....

Each time we got hit, we got a slivven. This isn't even same room encounter, this is just distance attacks. On fairly weak atherbeasts.

The slivven are ridiculously strong, and afflict with too much stuff. Gah. You need a damn team of demigods constantly roving to do any hunting. This change is bollocks.
