Lots of love for them. Really, a whole lot.

Although, question. The fink and gnome achievements. Can they be made to either include influencing the gnomes/finks, or have seperate rewards for influencing the same amount? I think that'd give the newcomers an incentive to play around with the unique Lusternian mechanic of influencing.
Ilyarin2010-03-01 12:13:56
Agree on both counts.
Ssaliss2010-03-01 13:06:28
Also, does the finks and gnomes apply to other than the ones in Newton? Would be nice if us oldbies could complete them as well...
Kiradawea2010-03-01 13:27:42
Yeah. You can aim for em by visiting Mucklemarsh and Bottledowns/Facility.

Of course, the fink one is pretty hard, since there are very few finks, and completing the quest makes some of the finks far stronger than usual.

They're full of cheat and win imo. I like being able to get those few extra lessons even on high level charas. ^^

Heck, I was pretty excited when I came back and there were suddenly achievements in the game. biggrin.gif

If you have more ideas for newbie achievements, feel free to suggest them! Though I do think we've kind of covered the broad swathe of them.

Goes for regular achievements, too - though I'd suggest starting a new thread for those.

As was mentioned in some other thread (can't remember where or who) but would it be possible to make it "slay or influence x "? Or an additional achievement for influencing.

Some of these are taken from other IRE games, but here's a few suggestions:

QUOTE

Speak on the Market

Mail a letter

Snd a message

Use 10 emotes

take 10 exits from the Portals

Buy something from a shop

Buy a credit from the credit market

Bring 5 bards/scholars to where they want to go.

Read your city log.

Put 10 power into your nexus.

Visit a plane other than Prime.

Die from alcohol poisoning >.>

Die from fire damage.

Have your corpse offered to a shrine.

Killed by vermin.

Have all four limbs broken.

Have more than 10 afflictions.

Have more than 5/15/25 defenses.

Some more suggestions:
QUOTE
Write a description.

Transverse to another plane.

Enter your nexus world.

Cure an affliction.

Learn lessons for the first time.

Check AB .

Skillchoice select a skill.

Read a newspost.

Exploration achievements would be nice in general. Now that quests are 'open knowledge', wouldn't a set of achievements for doing quests be able to be tied in to 'completing' an area or some other kind of nifty system? I guess your achievement-listing for quests usually resides in quest honors lines, but.. tongue.gif

I don't think you're allowed to reward players for voting. It's their own incentive.

Probably not a newbie achievement, but:

Influence X villagers on behalf of your organization.

Influence and obtain amnesty X times, or possibly
Influence and obtain full amnesty X times (even just once?).

Sheesh, I've done amnesty a couple dozen times and not once have I gotten a full pardon. You'd think my 22 charisma was pretty persuasively charming.
Sylphas2010-03-03 01:24:33
Influence a mob with each of charity, paranoia, seduction, empowerment, and weakening at least once.

Two suggestions. First, can we rename "newbie" to "novice" to keep within the game's current RP structure? Sorry... that's a nitpick. Secondly, would it be possible for the Guild Administrator to check a guild members novice achievements via a ledger command? Something like GUILD LEDGER ACHIEVEMENTS .

The achievement list (with lesson rewards) is such an awesome educational tool with a evenly more impressive reward attached. It'll go a long way to make sure novices obtain those "must have" skills such as rift and first aid early on.

I'm not logged in and can't check, but I'm fairly sure there's a way to check all achievements on another player - try calling up the syntax list and looking?
