Quick question-

Maybe this is common sense and if so, slap me, but I'd like to ask if it's abuse of HELP SECONDS to use your active alts to vote for another alt of yours in a referendum or election. Also, does it violate the same policy to use your alts to marry/get adopted into the House of your other characters, which helps to establish greathouse status? I've asked about six different people and am getting conflicting responses.

To the first one:
Yes.

Using alts to get elected is a Bad Thing. People have been shrubbed for it in the past.

No clue about the second.

I recommend filing an ISSUE ME about it. Why not hear it straight from the mouths of the people who are going to decide whether to punish your or not if you do it anyway?

Well, I'm not a fan of alts. I play one character only. I'm asking more because I'm witnessing others do it and wondered if it were illegal.

IRE's policy regarding alts is that you may have as many as you please, but that they cannot help each other in any way, and that great responsibility is expected of those who play multiple characters.

"Inflating" a Great House by filling it with alts is either indirectly helping another one of your other characters using meta-game knowledge, clearly irresponsible, or both (I lean towards both). That said, if it's not considered actionable, then people will assume it's perfectly all right, so I can't say one way or the other.

People have had alts in the same family before, and those families have since become greathouses, and they weren't punished for it to my knowledge.

Grey area, I suppose. Guilt or innocence depend largely upon factors that are impossible to prove.

It could be that the alt character genuinely found its way into the family IC, or it could just be padding. Who's to say? It seems shady to me at first blush, but eh.

This "grey area" is part of the reason I don't have any characters in the same organization. One active character per city/commune for me.

Supposing its a good thing none of my alts voted in the city leader election then Mali! I have personally issued others for doing so for their own alts before and am far from stupid. Don't believe me? Have it looked into. Go ahead
