Probably just need to slow down a little bit. I was asked to explain my train on Gleip earlier, which was odd since I wasn't even aware that I am running one!
Shiri2010-04-06 15:40:01
Oh man, don't tell mafia players to slow down or we're DOOMED.

Whoops. Yeah, I guess that tends to kill game momentum when we do that.
Kiradawea2010-04-06 15:55:05
Momentum is nice, and we've got good momentum going on now.
Shiri2010-04-06 15:56:28
We have 4 votes in 3 RL days.
Kiradawea2010-04-06 15:59:55
I meant right now, with Tekora. Really though, everyone with less posts than Gleip should think about picking up the pace. We don't even have enough to get a lynch going with those who're currently active.
Tekora2010-04-06 16:03:19
Votes aren't as important as discussion. Yes, delays can harm the town by forcing deadlines, but all hastily placed votes and trains do is get townies lynched, especially in games with such small numbers of scum, like this one.
Xavius2010-04-06 16:13:30
Obligatory no lynch suggestion goes here.
Mirami2010-04-06 18:49:59
Well, the train on Gleip was because some of us think there is better logic to a day-1 lynch over easter weekend than 'lynch the inactives', and he still refused to unvote.

That being said, I still think Gleip is our best bet. Shiri could be a dangerous scum, too, but I'm more concerned with the scum-vibes coming from Gleip.
Unknown2010-04-06 20:44:29
Xavius may be on to something, even though he's scum.

Vote: No Lynch
Tekora2010-04-06 21:00:29
No lynch actually does seem like a good idea. Any lynch we have today will probably end up being townie, barring the possibility of Gleip succumbing to pressure and doing something stupid like killing me and causing everyone else to dogpile on him, thus costing the town both their vigs on Day 1.

Vote: No Lynch
Shulamit2010-04-06 22:29:00
I...was under the impression no vote was bad? I'm still reading up on all of this though, so I'm not sure. I do know, given the ratio of town to mafia, it's slightly more likely we'll lynch town, so it makes sense, and it's sorta hard to get scummy vibes. I must not have installed my detector for that yet.

So, uhm...yeah.

I'd hope it'll be easier to see who's scum after the first of us townies die though sad.gif
Shiri2010-04-07 04:06:46
No lynch is bad. It's also ALWAYS true that you're most likely to kill a townie on day 1 because they're in the majority, usually by definition, so it's no better an idea here. There are specific circumstances in which no lynch is anything other than retarded and no one's presented them.

Tekora does inadvertently raise a good point though, which is that when we have someone prepared for lynch, we should be using Gleip on them instead because we get more information before day ends. You can't conclude from the result whether Gleip is town or scum because that ability should generally be thought of as an extra town lynch when we know it's present, but it at least gives us a chance to correct course before letting the scum have their actions.

Asking Gleip to use his power on day will be better than voting for no lynch. At least we'll learn something, although the said something may or may not be useful.

You're not. The one who's running a train is Romertien, who's got completely paranoid that someone dared to be active and/or playful. No lynch is bad, and when I'm around we can get a double lynch going to work from. Instead of voting no-lynch figure out who I should be diving so we can get a good lynch going on. Sure, there's only a 3 in 14 chance that we get a scum by lynching, but there's a 0 in 14 chance that we do not get a scum by going for a no-lynch.

What? No. Terrible idea. We don't have enough information to act on to get any sort of either-or decision making. When acting randomly (which we basically are right now), no lynch comes out ahead on mathematical analysis. Double lynch is straight dumb.
Arix2010-04-07 13:56:26
I'm gonna vote no lynch as well, the only scummy vibes I'm getting are from Gleip, and they're minimal at best. Also, it's d ay 1, and I almost never manage to pick up useful information about scum on day one, and we don't have Furien here to make a lucky guess like in the last game.
Shiri2010-04-07 15:11:34
We have way more info available in this game than basically any other kind. Since the roles are all known quantities we have way better ways to figure out agendas and scum patterns from voting. Our odds are higher of getting a good lynch on day 1 than in every other game it's accepted that no lynching is dumb.

Still haven't heard any justification from Tekora for his blatantly wrong self-serving and non-town-serving statement that Gleip would be more dangerous than him as a scum.
Xavius2010-04-07 15:13:39
Shiri volunteers himself for the day vig extra information experiment.
Shiri2010-04-07 15:17:19
I was thinking you could go up for real lynching if we whiffed on Tekora actually (or if Tekora brought up something we actually failed to consider for reals) since you're the one who started this whole no-lynch town stalling plan and that's never ever ever a good sign.
