In a game with 30-120 concurrent players online (a population density I personally enjoy, but that's beside the point), won't adding new orgs and guilds have the potential to spread the population out too thinly?
Don't get me wrong — I know it's good to create new opportunities for people outside of the old, stagnant, set-in-their-ways cities and communes, and I'm sure it's exciting to both design and experience new content. I definitely respect Hallifax's and Gaudiguch's right to exist. But I would think that expanding on the original four orgs (adding a new area, new content, perhaps a new archetype) would have been a better way to do that.
I think Hallifax and Gaudiguch are great, I really do. They're interesting and well made. But you know, 6 orgs x 5 guilds (I assume they'll eventually have five guilds) = 30 guilds; that's an average of one online person per guild during off-hours, two per guild during middle hours, and four per guild at peak times. I'm in a somewhat "unpopular" guild myself, and it's actually rare to see more than two or three guild mates online even during peak times. Once there are eight more guilds open (two are about to be), who knows how that might change?
Yes, there are always other org members who aren't a part of the guild. But, there are some things — especially for new players, like me — that we need someone of our archetype or even our own guild to accomplish.
I'm just voicing my vague concerns here, and wondering how others feel about this.

At the moment it would be quite unfair not to release guardians, though no promises have been made about monks or bards. They may not be released until the population grows enough that we can support them.
Rodngar2010-04-04 07:01:51
We won't get Bards or Monks for a long time if ever. Estarra has discussed this with us thoroughly. The new guild set will be out in at the earliest two months. That is absolute earliest. Let's also be honest: it would be unfair to keep two cities at 2 classes only. These two cities have been being anticipated for release for years - there were clans dedicated to their ressurection. In fact, some people want Ackleberry to eventually come back (I don't think we could support 7 citizenship powers until we get Achaea's numbers of 200 - 300 people on peak times, or I think it was like that for a while) - despite Lusternia's diverse conflict spectrums, some people needed somewhere else to go. The setup was getting stale.
I think we'll be OK if we expand to Guardians as well in a few months, really.

Right now... I'm actually hoping that Guardians are just released when they are finished. Atleast that way, everything is out and we can actually see how the guilds fare (i.e how many people are actually going to stay aeromancer)
Rodngar2010-04-04 07:56:31
Estarra was pretty clear in saying - 2 month gap between guild releases.

This was also when we were thinking the first guild was going to be out a month ago and we actually had a choice in the matter, If we wait two months now it is going to be the beginning of june and not particularly fair, course they could have always held warriors back and let us choose once everything was ready as per the original plan...
Unknown2010-04-04 08:30:35
Yep. The whole thing's screwed by virtue of what I can only assume to be the Guardian Cosmic specs taking much longer than anticipated.
Estarra said that if Guardians weren't ready to go by the end of March, they'd roll out the Warriors, then Guardians when they're ready. I don't think they'd artificially delay the release time at this point, as it's already looking to be overextended.

Considering I asked about this not 5 hours ago, I can confidently say it's still.. probably June.

Then fail, there is seriously no other word for it.
Hooray for more sitting around, waiting for the guild to come out...

Illuminati are taking forever, if I remember right the researchers are fully completed.

Yeah... 'cept acording to Rodngar we won't see them for two months regardless of when they are finished.
Unknown2010-04-04 09:13:34
I'm concerned and interested to see how things will go with 24, soon to be 26 guilds. That's more than Achaea's 25 Houses, with around half the playerbase to support them, at a rough guess. Midkemia will presumably become more attractive as it moves out of beta, and Polaris and Lithmeria will be opening at some point as well.
Eventru2010-04-04 09:16:43
I'm quite certain Lusternia will do just fine!

Well, I don't think it's going to blow up or anything.
Hopefully, the population will increase at least a little bit with some good new arrivals. That would benefit everyone!

While we all gripe about the Admins taking forever to release the new Guardians, this shows some dedication on their part that they are waiting. Think about it: the only thing more exciting than a player finally being able to play a new class is the administrative team RELEASING that new class! I'm sure that Estarra and the rest of the designers/coders want to release the Guardians NOW, however, they are wise enough to say, "Hey... We could release them, and possibly get a negative response to them", which I doubt that they want.
So, instead of griping about "No Guardians", be excited that the Sentinels and Templars are released! I know I am... And I'm staying a Tahtetso!

er... The reason that they weren't released is because they aren't finished. If they were finished sentinels and templars would not be out and there would be pretty much the same sort of thing but with different posters.
The problem is that the times originally given were like... "maybe" or "roughly" or the like, effectively meaning that if the admin are not going to release the guilds when they are ready, the start of june might be our earliest hope if they consider the player base able to handle the extra guilds.
I would think most of the people hoping to join the guardian guilds accept that it can take time to code the primary skills (which I believe was/is mainly around the illuminati spec, with the halliguardians being nearly done?). At the same time it is, at the least, irksome to be told that you must wait even longer than however long that will take before the release.
Also putting off a release because you are worried about a negative response? Seriously if the admin ever did that NOTHING WOULD CHANGE EVER.
Eventru2010-04-04 16:58:21
I'm sure we'll release the Guardian guilds as soon as we feel we're ready to.
Gregori2010-04-04 17:05:20
What would be amazing is if whoever it is that possess and inguilds for the Templars... would do so.. there are a few of us that have been waiting all night, with support from the few already in, to get in. I understand it's easter and all, but we were not the ones who picked this date for this event.
