Subj: Skillset Changes

Two changes today...

Firstly, the Magic skillset is gone. Everything it did will now be done
by learning the High Magic or Low Magic skillsets, in addition to
everything else they've always done. If you had lessons invested in it
then you have received a full refund in your general lessons bucket, not
the lesson pool, so there won't be a penalty for using the lessons
anywhere else you want.

Secondly, you can now make skillsets dormant rather than forgetting them
and losing all your skill ranks. The syntax is FORGET
TEMPORARILY. If you want the old forget then it's FORGET
PERMANENTLY. You can see all dormant skillsets and their ranks using
SKILLCHOICE LIST. If a skillset is a valid skill choice then you can
activate it again using SKILLCHOICE ACTIVATE at a cost of 50
lessons for a full skillset or 25 lessons for the top or bottom half of
a skillset with specializations (like Aquamancy or Elementalism). The
skillset will be restored at exactly the skill rank you had at the time
it was deactivated.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You cannot activate a skillset if it is not a valid
skill choice! This does NOT change when you are able to obtain a
skillset.

This should make it easier to:
+ Swap between specializations or secondary skillsets within the same
guild. Example: Swap between Axelord and Pureblade while in a warrior
guild.
+ Swap between different trade skillsets.
+ Try new guilds.

You can activate only one skillset per game month (RL day). Exception:
Once a game year, if you join a new guild then you can activate up to
four skillsets.

Annoyed that Warriors and Mages get to do it cheaper than anyone else.

How?

BTW, it's called "skillflex" but I forgot to mention it in the announce.

I think the 25/50 setup was a good idea, bravo!

And of course I don't mind not having to learn a skillset with no skills in it!

Now if they really, really, reallyreally love us they'll move resilience into combat or something.
Doman2010-04-15 23:31:38
Oh ha ha, you pulled a fast one on us from the video

I think he's referring to people who don't guildhop. Only warriors and mages have specialization choices to make.

Mages and Warriors are the only people who can swap specs without changing guilds. Assuming I had them all learned, it would cost me just as much to go Druid and learn Dreamweaving as it would to swap to Healing. Mages can swap TK/TP at half price, Warriors can swap weapon specs at half price.

Regardless, the once per day limitation means I'll likely never use it unless I swap guilds again.

Yeah, that's what I thought but wasn't totally sure. Could a kind moderator please retitle this thread?

Maybe we'll see more specs for other guilds some day. Or they could turn things for the other guilds into specs...

This, all of it.
Doman2010-04-16 00:04:20
I'm almost positive they mixed magic and the high/lowmagic because the high/lowmagic skillsets had so few skills in them

Orrrr it's the precursor to a new common skill.

I like the exclamation mark. Gives it a bit of pleasant flare!

Yay Skillflexing!
Unknown2010-04-16 00:33:13
Love it!

Edit: I was actually expecting that the cooldown would have been more than a RL day, was thinking it'd be an IG year or something, actually. Though I didn't think it through that much.
Chade2010-04-16 00:42:10
Please move resilience into combat, that would probably get me back out of dormancy would also massively lower the cost of people getting into combat in the first place and still loads of new skills for people to dump credits into.
Thul2010-04-16 01:02:32
So who's going to be the person to Trans every skillset there is?

You know someone's thinking it.
