You know you play too much Lusternia when characters start showing up in your dreams.
No. You play too much when you start saying "say" in front of your sentences.
True story. Except I stutter it.

Shuyin, did you really have to :smug: up your signature? It was a jab at choke.
The only real reason why Glomdoring keeps bashing Serenwilde to the ground is because of your signature, actually. We want our power pack (with interest, of course).

Then put the full quote in your sig, or, better yet, just the second half of that original quote block.
Or make up somthing equally obnoxious.

Trying and failing to distract myself from the bewildering frustration of this revolt, and by extension, any significant PK situations. The cost of entry and learning curve to reach a point of satisfying engagement are so high, put beside something like a couple of hardware upgrades and a subscription to TOR.
It's all about what you try and define as 'satisfying engagement'. The learning curve isn't that hard, either (maybe I'm biased, it's been ages since I started) if you manage to get a dedicated tutor to answer every seemingly silly question you've got about combat. (The Illuminati has a few of them!)
So long as you have a system and curatives, you're basically able to participate in any group fight. Your effectiveness then starts scaling with (in order, for group combat): Skills (lesson-wise), Levels, Coordination, System Complexity/Quality. That's where 'effectiveness' comes in - you can be effective by running in, dropping a room effect, and running away if that's how you define it. On the other hand, maybe you want to 1v1 Shuyin.
@Alacardael: Four ascendants later and I'm still in debt?! This bank blows.

Think of how many guilds were open at that time as opposed to now, and as a result, the diversity in skillsets and skills to watch out for.
Granted, not all of those guilds have active combatants that will make a presence in conflict regularly, but even considering that, much else has changed as well.

Awake for 24 hours? Not pretty. Trying to play Lusternia after not sleeping for 24 hours? Not pretty.

You are the absolute last person who should be complaining about smug signatures.
You also really should not be surprised when people smug you right back. Whether that be in posts or signatures.

I don't have the Firefox toolbar, I don't use Firefox! I did check my messages on the Iron Realms site HOURS ago though, but I've been logged in another time before this one since then and it wasn't telling me about any messages, and now it is. Oh wellll.

I'm trying to design recipes in Lusternia that include meaty things like rat, lobster, and so on. But I've been a vegetarian since I was born, so I don't know what they taste like, how they're cooked, or anything. So I googled the images, and ... D: D: I don't want to design them anymore. Why did I make a character who likes rat? T___T

Nothing vegetarian is going to come quite close, save for certain shrooms/fungi. If you can find a taste tester's reference, though, you might find that more useful!

... I get queasy just thinking about looking at a dead lobster which is about to be cooked. I don't want to imagine someone describing eating it :<

Good cooked lobster started out a live cooking lobster. I don't really like lobster though, just going off what I'm told.
Eldanien2010-08-08 18:46:59
Most places jab a knife into the lobster's brainstem and nerve center just before cooking them. Or put them in a container of water and chilling them in the freezer to the point of system shutdown. Tossing them in live and kicking gets PETA called on you.
Whenever cooking lobsters comes up, though, I always picture a scene from an old movie where the badguy sticks a stethoscope in the water as he's tossing in live lobsters, just to hear them screaming.

Interesting fact, lobsters and crabs scream when boiled alive.
(Though I should note, I come from a long line of seaside dwellers, and they've always grilled their lobster. I actually went out lobstering just the other week!)
(Edit: Though I feel obligated to point out it's not actually 'screaming', but air pockets escaping/being pushed out, as a result of the rapidly changing temperature. It sounds unnerving as heck though! It's generally accepted, to my understanding, lobsters can't feel pain (they've a very primitive nervous system))

That was severely disturbing.
Sadie, lobster and crab meat tends to be very sweet actually. Not what you'd expect from 'meat'. I stopped eating meat when I was 12, but didn't do it right (getting nutrients from other food and such) so when I was about 20 I had to start eating white meat to keep healthy, but I still haven't eaten red meat or pork/bacon/ham/pig-of-any-kind. But uhh I don't think anyone here can tell you what rat tastes like. Or I hope not anyway...

It is actually heavily debated, for example it is proven that lobsters feel a form of pain when they lose a limb. Now if they feel pain with heat related issues I do not know, and even if they do it could be being dropped in a pot of boiling water triggers the nerve overload reaction similar as that in humans which causes us not to feel as much pain because the receptors get blocked.

I would be able to tell her if I actually knew how to describe food in english and or had a good memory, lacking that I can just say it tastes alright.
