Helping someone with the Hallifax epic quest. I told myself I would never go back, but they drew me back in, man. THEY DREW ME BACK IN.

Lousy goddamn stupid comptrollers...

Alacardeal, I have no clue how you didn't kill me last night. I was drunker than I've been in half a decade and thought I was standing in Etherwilde and could barely read. I got worms from you, though. I think.

So uh, thanks for not killing me!

We found out that tithes maxed out at 200, whereas in the old system you could get no limit on tithe size. Given how far apart tithes were, it was inefficient if we put ourselves to it, and I guess the Court just decided Conquest was better. So we switched back. And then this happened.

Lame.

Lately Lusternia feels like a chore. Or at least I'm making it feel like one.

Also, bless Nihmriel for nurturing my finnicky and complex nature. Whenever I have doubts about something she clears my mind and sets me on the right path. Heck, she does a better job than my real parents.

Do not, I would be devestated if you left, Aikufi sad.gif

Oh I won't be leaving, I'm too enamored with my great family. smile.gif But, I should remind myself not to log in just to write books or proctor exams.

This is why I didn't take any guild positions (well maybe protector). It used to feel like that for me too. But you can always take time off in the game i.e. from your guild work and be like me and have no responsibilities!

I'm trying this, and it works! Now let's hope I don't get too used to this...
Thendis2010-08-14 21:06:22
No, you can get used to it! Then you can set a day for being productive and, no matter how little you do, it will feel like did a lot!

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion right away, though it does cause issue for some concerns. Especially with so many villages under the influence of one org. Would be funny if Glomdoring had to switch back to commerce governance again just to support the commodity needs of the game.

1. Your new avatar thingy (the dog) creeps me out. sad.gif
2. Bold text - yep, another reason it's even harder for Aubrey. Granted she's not enemied to Glom but I still doubt they'd want a Seren traipsing about buying 'their' comms!

I don't think I want to know. Just uh don't pass them on to Aubrey please! tongue.gif

The main reason this upsets me isn't the price factor in general. It's the fact that it was already a huge headache and horribly time-consuming to find enough comms - namely cloth - for tailoring. Think about it - a single set of greatrobes costs at least 120 comms, usually almost all (or sometimes completely all) of which are cloth. So we need to buy it by the hundreds. Previously it took a good 15 - 20 minutes of searching just for the cloth. And I don't mean cheap cloth, I mean any freaking cloth. Now? Forget it. Bye bye greatrobes.

EDIT: Now, to get cloth at anywhere near reasonable price (as in, less than 100gp each), I would have to go around buying ten from every city and village I have access to (which again is only about half, considering most of the villages are owned by the enemy org) every single day. After a few days of this, if I'm lucky, I could make one set of greatrobes. And if you consider all the other tailors will have to do this too, chances of cloth staying below 100 is very slim. Greatrobes are expensive enough already; who's going to pay 2 or 3 times their current price?

And that's just me personally. I'm sure other people from other trades will have similar complaints. I know furniture takes a ton of comms too.

I tested it last night real quick just to see what happens. Bought ten leather at 22 gold. Okay. Bought another ten, this time at 26. The next ten was at 30, at which point Aubrey stormed off. Now, I understand - sort of? - the reasoning behind this change, and I'm not opposed to change, but only when it's really necessary and when it's done right. I don't think this one was either of those things. Especially done right. If you want to raise the prices after so much buying, okay, but not 4gp at a time - maybe 1 or 2 at a time. And not after just ten of the item. More like 50. Because you already made things require twice as many comms just a couple months ago, remember? dry.gif

I hate to jump to conclusions or make cynical assumptions about the admins' intentions, but I have to agree with Shaddus here that it does kinda make it look like you're just trying to force us to buy more credits. I saw the same thing in Achaea, making everything more expensive so people would have to buy more credits. I really doubt it works though. I know for me at least, I'm sure as heck not going to spend more RL money for that. I'll just end up having wasted the money I already spent on the shears, and the guild shop will end up with a lot fewer wares. And thus I'm even less inclined to buy credits for anything else in the future, since everything we buy seems to be turning more and more useless.

Didn't mean for that to be such a rant, sorry. sleep.gif Just really aggravating. Also another thing I don't think we heard anything about in advance (and not the sort of thing a 'mystery' or 'surprise' is needed for). But can someone please explain what is meant by 'tithe'? I mean I know what the word means, I just don't know what it refers to in this context.

Actually one thing the new system will do is ensure that there will always be commodities available, if you're willing to pay for them. You're under some misapprehensions about the new system. You're not limited to buying 10 total per day, you're limited to buying groups of max size 10, this is to give the price a chance to readjust based on the current stock. Price is adjusted at present based directly on stock. Cloth is one of the commodities that is easiest to quest for. There are 6 sheep directly adjacent to your commune, and 6 directly adjacent to Glomdoring. By the time you walk both sets to a village, they pretty much reset and you can do it again. Doing commodities quests increases the available stock, and thus lowers the prices. You can do this repeatedly, and probably should, if you are a tradesperson that regularly uses a commodity. And don't be ridiculous - greatrobes are the only armour for 70% of the game, it's not like people will stop buying them, whatever they cost.

Estarra commented in the last thread I made about comms that the system was in need of an overhaul. I was pleasantly surprised that it was done so quickly! The prices need to re-normalize, a comment that was made in the announce post. Give it some time, or better yet, try helping with that by doing comms quests. Tithes are portions of commodities that the controlling org gets several times per day. Their size is based on the governance style, with commercial getting a lot, religious getting less, and conquest getting almost none. When the villages produce comms, some go up for sale in the village market, and some go to the controlling org's market. The latter are the tithes.

Must have mistyped "quit" or something last night before bed, because I got up this morning to find I'd been logged on all night, using up my health potions from starving, and I burned up the entirety of my achievement 75% experience bonus that way. sad.gif
