They like to start the precursors to these events way, way in advance.
That said, there's nothing that says this in particular is part of it.

When was the last Seal event? It's usually once a year, right?

Dear Builders:
If you are going to put a clearly insane mob in front of a large, bubbling pit of something unpleasant, it is inconsiderate, perhaps even mean, to not give the mob an appropriate reaction when pushed.

I think I have a front row seat to Hallifax becoming an hero.
Ileein2010-08-17 05:13:56
Possibly! But either way, I'm going to bed.

If I understand this event correctly it's awesome. More information on the Soulless near Serenwilde is really neat. If not, oh well.

What I don't understand is Jayant implying the Slaghora'ruin may not even be a Soulless. What else could it possibly be? A parasite from the meteor, maybe?
EDIT: And even then, the Slayer of Forests has been there for a long time and supposedly came from outside the basin.

What meteor?
It was stated that this was something that came from outside the Basin, during the time Chuchip was alive, so doubt that it's whatever has supposedly been buried under Serenwilde since forever.
If it is some kind of Soulless thing, my guess would be some fragment similar to the Zenos fragments Celest had dealt with.
EDIT: Also this little follow up to the vent we're having in Seren is great, thanks guys. <3

Yeah, I added that in after. A meteor hit in Verasavir(sp) one day prior to all this happening, apparently.

Is astrology really that under-used? Its instakill is readily mistaken?

Gah, was helping a novice and killed it...

Apparently so.
Though technically, isn't meteor just a lot of damage, and not necessarily an instant kill? =p

Hah, funny. I'm an astrologer but have never/seen used it before. I feel gullible now.

It's not exactly for the faint of heart, and doesn't provide anyone with an EZ™ button or anything.
I'm still figuring it out. I get the idea, but keeping it in my head is nuts. And I keep not having time to write that mudlet astrology module.
Aramel2010-08-17 06:27:34
Astrology is awesome, but meteor is impractical in groups which might be why it's rarely used.
Plus, it's not an insta. Most demis can survive it.

Lies. You and Solanis bullied me.

A zerg of Astrologers meteoring at the same time with common enemies can kill an opposing party pretty nicely. I've seen it done once (never again, though. Everyone went Healing/Hexes again )

That wouldn't work since the spheres all disappear at the time of casting. Unless by at the same time you mean spamming spheres?

Crystal spires and togas? Although, that does not exactly cover the society angle, but it certainly is a funny coincidence.
... Or is it?
Yeah, probably is.

Splash damage is done to enemies whether or not they have negative spheres. According to previous tests, that is.
