Tuck falls to the ground and implores Mother Night for her dark favour. A glittering wall of darkness sweeps up before him, and a shadowy female figure emerges, who bends down and kisses him on the forehead. Tuck screams out in a mixture of pain and ecstasy, as his lips blacken and a nimbus of crackling black lightning lights up over his head.

All this time I've been playing and I just notice this now.

Wait,wait, does that mean we deserve a black lightning nimbus emote+pose?

I really hate it when people tell novices they should let them be their mentor "so they can learn faster", right out of the Portal.

I didn't just come out of the Portal

Ugh. I'll only ever offer mentorship to a promising novice with whom Felicia forms an uncommon bond.

Not that I'd be the world's greatest and most experienced mentor at this juncture, mind you, but I have standards.

Am I the only person who never offers? Who just sticks her name up on GHELP MENTORS and waits for them come to me? Is this why I have no proteges? Should I start stalking them at the Portal of Fate too?

I have followed this policy, too. I hardly ever get any proteges, either.

I offer to people that seem to solidly be in my same time frame and who I enjoyed helping. I've got two so far as Sylphas, and I had one as Aryll in Achaea. Total credits made from mentoring: 8, in 10 RL years. It's still fun, though, if you get the right people.

I do this too.

But I do get proteges.

That's because the Ebonguard have so few experienced people you're probably the only one on that list.

Piffle.

People ask me to mentor them.

Does this make me special or just too noticeable?

I have two proteges, Senna and some other girl. She disappeared. And Senna isn't even an aqua or a novice, but she still has me as her mentor. That way we can know when each other has logged in or left. I don't grab proteges. I've only had three over the years and I didn't even know about the credit thing until Senna bought some for the first time and I got some.
