Back to Common Grounds.

Walking around with an enter message that starts with "Alianna explodes" is getting a lot of funny reactions.

Not to mention all the allergies I'm irritating.

and then the god-awful mess of Continuum

E, nw, repeat ad nauseum until you find the right gemstone. It's a pain to visualise, but navigation isn't bad.

You relinquish the title of Grand Cipher of the Illuminati. With a blinding flash, the Golden Sceptre of Enlightened Pursuits leaves your possession.
You resigned from the Guildmaster position of Illuminati.

Fun while it lasted, despite the drama and a near-complete absence of Divine support. Good luck to my successor- you'll freakin' need it.

WTB: Divine that responds to city upgrade messages (2 so far have been ignored), is involved in helping the city prosper, and is active. Offering first born.

I find it impossible to get lost in Hallifax.

It's just about figuring out the logic in how it is set up.

You got all the things for the highest castes at the top (Library, Aeromancer HQ, Institute HQ, Collegium, Labratories, Galleries, Boardroom) and it just goes downwards in terms of Castes from there, on the very bottom you find low-Caste indentured servants and animal stuff. Between that you got bureaucrats, shops and Sentinel HQ, as well as other stuff.

Really, it's very hard to get the hang of, but when you DO get the hang of it, it's increadibly inuitive.

By this point I can practically navigate it blind.
Kiradawea2010-09-08 07:46:43
The only think that Hallifax has no excuse for, is the shop layout. They built some bridges to help with that, but why couldn't they have built the bridges one floor up? Being able to move in a line or circle to get from shop to shop is vital if you want to have people search out all the various shops of the city. I really doubt hallifax gets much trade from outsiders.

That sucks, since I was about to message you about stepping down too. Who will I message now!

The grass is always greener on the other side, it seems.

Also, do the gusts of Air happen much more often than the equivalents in other elemental planes? IMO, Air is the easiest layout of any elemental plane, so does not having windwalk really make it that much worse?

I bet it's not really firing more often. But since the entire plane is a non-stop run of pinch-points where there's only one way to get from here to there, and every "island" is atop one of them, you can't ever get anywhere without hitting at least one and possibly several. And even being bounced one room is devastating to your progress because there's no direction to be bounced that isn't completely off your intended track, almost all the time. Since the islands are all separated, you can't fight your way through the gusts to the ungusty area and then stay there, like you can get to the Lake of Dreams and then not have to worry about waves. Finally, since everything's so narrow, the gusts tend to cluster.
Rika2010-09-08 10:49:53
There are also certain rooms that seem to trigger it more.
Shiri2010-09-08 11:03:35
That's probably just observer bias.

Veyrzhul thrusts a clawed fist towards you, ripping at the air before your face.
Veyrzhul thrusts a clawed fist towards you, ripping at the air before your face.
With a quick spin, Veyrzhul kicks you in the head with his left foot.

No afflictions.

Ten seconds later:

The shofa hooks your left leg, sending you tumbling.
Veyrzhul smashes your left leg with shofa, splintering your kneecap.
Your illusory doppleganger completely absorbs the damage.
You notice that your sweat glands have begun to rapidly secrete a foul, oily substance.
Veyrzhul slices an imperial jade and gold shofa cleanly through the air in front of you. You blink several times as it appears that he missed you, but then pain blossoms in a line across your neck as blood gushes out of a long, razor-thin cut.

Veyrzhul swiftly stomps on your left leg, causing you to wince.

Well, that first one he was just razing, really.

Still. Welcome to the world of Shofangi. Isn't it fun?

This is not a rant, nor a rave.

I just want to say that it's hard for me to imagine anything more disgusting than killing the guards at the nexus and the npc that teaches all the novices when there are no defenders around except Estwald.

On the other hand, this makes me believe that becoming a non-combatant was the best decision I made all summer.

True, but the collegium help files point to Ardrak.

Becoming a non-combatant? So, all those months you spent coding your own system were for naught then?
Shaddus2010-09-08 18:53:04
It was for influencing, I'm sure.
