What about the absolutely innocent and not malevolent in any way Diamond Sphere, hmm?

Mag doesn't exclude people and it doesn't ignore them. You have to want to be noticed.
QUOTE (Jigan @ Sep 17 2010, 05:12 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Notice is good.
Either someone comes out and helps you to be a better Mag when you fail, or you succeed and they keep pressing down until you fail and remind you of your place.
You can't try to hide in the shadows, you have to be in the light and make people take notice, and when they take notice, the people who like you will absorb you into a cliche, or you'll form your own. Literally, in Magnagora, it is better to be hated or loved than to be ignored.

Ahh... so that's my problem. Well, my "usual" time in the Basin is when there is like what less than 7 citizens in the City. How about you guys all wake up at 8 - 9 am ET?
I prefer not to be noticed. I would like my presence felt. Have you ever been in an earthquake? If you have, than that's what I'm talking about...

One: Literally, working in projects attaches you name to things.
Abide by this rule: Attach your name to every project and document you can. You will eventually be noticed, even for minor contributions. You will also be able to say you were on all these initiatives. Looks good on resumes. It's known as padding, and in Magnagora, if it's true, warp it to fit your own purpose. It's still true, isn't it?
Two: Follow the above advice. See that your name becomes household by mouth. The sheer amount of power that word of mouth contains is amazing. If you don't want to be seen, then ensure that people hear your name and seek you out. Find ways into their heads, and make them think of you.
Jigan uses sexual innuendo. Which is one of the primary biological functions which very few people escape from. Therefore, by attaching food to it, another biological function which is required and also fairly well enjoyed like sex, he wires the two. By using innuendo to sell his food, people begin to think of Jigan when they are hungry, or with their wives. Because they think it's funny, or it reminds them of a Jigan ad, so they are, literally, brainwashed to associate food and sex with Jigan.

Not you. Celina, and Sidd, and too many others. Finding frivolous, nonsense reasons to enemy novices. And the people that allow that. Giving grief to novices is BAD.

Ahh.. So, I should half-ass everything I do. That way even if it doesn't get done at least people know that so and so was there. My favorite is when people run for something, win, and then disappear. Or, become one week wonders.

Real life gets in the way sometimes. I know this from personal experience, even. It wasn't long after I was elected Maker that my university workload picked up dramatically and caused me to spend very little time playing Lusternia. I kept on doing what I could for awhile until Auria decided to run, and I stepped down with no complaints whatsoever.
Sometimes, all it takes is a little initiative to get what you want.

Well, there we have a problem, don't we. Real life is real life. Lusternia is Lusternia. If I knew that I wouldn't have the time to do something, I wouldn't run for the position. But then again, I'm probably in the minority, the old people group. I sometimes forget about the large number of youngins buzzing around...
Krackenor2010-09-17 02:13:29
Oh, I'm not disagreeing with you. If you know you don't have the time, don't run for something. Things do pop up unexpectedly on occasion, though.

The gold isn't really a problem. I mention it only because I'm being accused of cheating someone because of collecting it. Apparently, soon, me and the Charites are going to buy that beach house on the Blessed Isle and sip mojitos on the deck. Just as soon as they finish up their half of the scam!
On top of it all, she got someone to make the design she wanted before it's deleted, so she's not even going to have to use the gold I refunded to her (out of my own pocket, for her error) to resubmit it, and still she accuses me of misdeeds. So in the end, she got me to pay for her design, and do most of the work in making it, and some other Seren ignored the comments on the design and helped her defraud me by making it for her anyway (shows how trustworthy my cartel-mates are), and she still has the gall to accuse me. I couldn't possibly be more sick to the teeth of trademastering the commune cartel right now.

I'll kill her for you if that makes you feel better.
Razenth2010-09-17 03:06:31
Would you like to publically out her so we can all rag on her?
Lendren2010-09-17 03:08:43
I'd like to, sure, but I'm not going to. The wrong of ranting about this is a victimless act, but even a well-deserved, well-earned second wrong wouldn't make a right.

Slooowly making my way through the early 90's. Didn't I tell myself I was going to get to 80 and then stop progressing at all? What happened to that plan?
