Theft is generally frowned upon in Lusternia.

can someone name all possible ways of theft? suspicious.gif

Short list off the top of my head:

-Stupidity
-Vestiphobia
-Dominate-style skills (most dangerous, since they can take selfishness off)
-Leprechaun (steals gold?)

Illusions can also be used to disable your system, if you have one, so don't assume that just because you have selfishness up means you cannot be robbed.

EDIT: What Elostian said, too. If you rob somebody, you will be enemied to most of their affiliated orgs, hunted down (several times, depending on if they put a bounty on your head), and your life will generally be made miserable.

Yeah i`ve seen the other topics on theft, i was just curious on the possible ways. I do find it the most stupidest thing about lusternia not to be able to steal, as that definitely removes a whole branch off the game. I understand making someone remove 100k gold from pack and give it to the thief woould be tragic, but working on it so only a limit could be stolen or pickpocketed at a time (say, 2000 gold an hour per adventurer) would completely solve the problem. But anyways, enough rambling, i know it wont be worked on since 90% of the basin prefers the way it is. I just usually like to play a thief class and its very sad I dont have the chance to in lusternia.

You're perfectly able to steal, so long as you don't mind becoming a pariah for the rest of your gaming experience here. There's nothing that is mechanically stopping you from doing so outside of the typical defenses.

EDIT: Also, If I recall, it wasn't player-player theft that was the real concern, but shop theft, ie the theft of hundreds of thousands worth of items. Of course, personal theft is still greatly frowned upon.

If it was simple pickpocketing I honestly don't think many people would care (unless it was a huge amount of gold). However most of the thefts that have occurred in Lusternia weren't simple pickpocketing. The people had their shops robbed and other items such as weapons and armor taken. That's why there's so much dislike and heavy stance against thieving in Lusternia.
Diamondais2010-09-30 22:28:04
Also, there are players who would do this and do it without moderation.

And 9 times out of 10, nothing good comes out of it. It's like a random jumping, except with much bigger loss.

I was on the Nexus client while messing around in the library computers between classes, and was using the little compass you can click on. It kept frustrating me when I needed to go in/out or to use a hidden exit as you can't click for those. ):

I feel bad that I can't log in as much as I'd like to lately!
Lehki2010-09-30 23:21:12
It's okay, I'll not feel bad about not logging in a lot for the both of us.

There were only a handful of people who were classy thiefs-- the ones who, if they realized they had come away with something really really valuable, would give it back (but keep the minor stuff).

Unfortunately, when it comes to "winning" or gaining advantages over other players, it only takes a few (but too often it is more than a few) who will go out of their way to exploit it to the point that they make it miserable for everyone else.

Envoy report #324 made generosity unforceable. You shouldn't be able to dominate to strip selfishness anymore.

(Hallifax): Desitrus (from the Aetherways) says, "They offer the most potent
suggestions for a villager to consider New Celest, I'm afraid we didn't have
enough higher Caste members for that."

(Hallifax): Geb says, "We did not have any actually."

(Hallifax): Geb says, "We were surely lacking in influential potency."

I am beginning to see a pattern.

There were 4 newbies in my guild the other day. One of my favorite things to do is to explain the wonders and adventures of lusternia to newbies and get em all enthusiatic with the game. Reminds me of myself when i started a loong time ago as a nihilist, and a rather good RP player took me aside and showed me the skills of summoning an archdemon. I thought it so cool happy.gif

I still don't see the problem here. How hard is it to just suck it up and make some designs/pull some scientific sounding stuff out of your kiester?

How hard is it for you to become a super awesome top tier cool kid combatant? wink.gif

Goes both ways, really!

write a paper on how numbers are really one higher than they really are. (1 is 2, 2 is 3, 3 is 4, etc). There. "can I has favours?"

Just as easy to go join a defence against a raid and say, can I have a favour?

I understand Hallifax likes its caste system and good on them, but sometimes the sciency stuff or design stuff isn't in peoples best interest, or something they enjoy doing, much the same for other things.
