Geez, the cat in sphere thing was one thing that happened weeks ago and I haven't even heard it mentioned in a couple of weeks. And it was just one person (no, not me) who did it, and a bunch of people being condemnatory about it, which sounds like what you're asking for.

Lendren, I'm looking to be proven wrong. My experiences just seem to be more of that. A silly org. Have good examples? I'd -love- to see them. I want to see them. I'm looking for a way to have a good time in Hallifax.
Furien2010-10-18 01:34:58
Hallifax does have a bad infestation of the Borg RP.
Lendren2010-10-18 01:36:00
My time in Hallifax has seen virtually no silliness apart from a few very isolated incidents, so I don't know what to suggest. (My character there is up to level 82, CR4, and GR6, so it's not like I haven't been logged in, either.) Must be we run in different circles.
Shulamit2010-10-18 01:36:59
I go with slightly silly, because damn it, I'm ancient, design all the time, and forget where things are! I use to have a plan for world domination through designs, but...uh...what was I talking about? Right, I still need to design more food designs.
At least, that's always been Shulamit's way of doing things. I have run into some more stuffy people, but they generally don't hang around me Much

There is a secret to avoiding Hallifaxian silliness. Avoid me and the Somnius.

I'll track me down some Shevat's then. I'm looking for the Aeromancer's who decided the Air Lords should be euthanized. I'm looking for the strict castes and the haughty artists. I'd love to see some emotionless scientists who embrace the idea that the ends justify the means. That's the Hallifax I imagine and read about but I have not really seen it.

Yeah, you want the Shevats.

Man, so much pressure.
EDIT: I'm tired of this event.

The stick up your collective butts would take all the wood in Serenwilde to make. You'll do fine.

Am I missing something in Hallifax or are there more people who RP more then being silly and running around with paperwork and omg science! I'm sure there is serious RP out there, an authoritarian meritocratic society built around actual and science and arts that sneers down on the basin from their lofty position. I know there is room for something serious and for real science and arts but all I see are cats in spheres. Any suggestions on who to actually hit up for something that isn't silly?
Shevats definitely. I find Maellio also fun to hit up for some conversations. In my experience, it depends on what conversation you start up--you get what you ask for from people. For example take my character. She's equally likely to have either type of talk, depending on what you want to discuss. Aeromancers are philosophers; you a Neophyte who wants talk philosophy, she'll chat with you. If you want to joke around, that happens too. I've had talks about timestudy in the library; debates on Existentialism; discussion on plays; arguments on higher and lower emotion.
Ask questions. People will come in and debate over answers. It -does- happen.

If we went through that entire awful rigamarole for a village that, despite its obvious connection to Hallifax, goes to Glomdoring, I will murder something.
This tweet does not fully express the depth of my frustration and bitterness, having stayed up far too late to work on this event.

Ptoma 2.0, calling it now.
Ileein2010-10-18 02:55:17
Ugh. All day of work for this. I'm sure I'll appreciate its no-doubt lovely building in the morning, but right now you have rewarded hours of work with a stupid village. Which is going to be won by, guess who, Glomdoring. Good going. Really.
I'm clearly in a poisonous mood. I'm going to take a step back for now.

The best part? Maellio tells me about what his character does, and he's exactly the same IRL. True story.
