Playing Artt, being ready for the First Initiation in the Hartstone, but no-one who has the authority to oversee it seem to be on when I am.

Ward of the Keyll Arrane: Literally translated, this might be assumed to
mean the person whose job it is to make sure that the guildmaster
doesn't hurt himself accidentally.

Guardian of the Arrey Arrane: Literally translated, this would be the
champion's personal bodyguard... if the champion needed one, that is.

Weaver of the Cuirr Arrane: Taken literally I suppose it might refer to
the Fates themselves, or perhaps to the administrator's birth parents.

The rest of this guild help file is full of small jabs at the admin. It makes me laugh.

I truly dislike all alts, especially when it's obvious by their logins and whose curing they have and they deny it and act tough.

Alts can DIAF.

Munsia alt was entertaining.

Case in point.

I like my alts, I wont openly say most of the time who I am but if someone asks I wont deny it in an OOC medium. sad.gif

If your alt is going to be your main, why not just move your main. That's my problem with alts.

Millions of power lost in some cases, plus the desire to start over with a clean slate.

Cause maybe you still like your old main, but not more than your new main. So your old main becomes an alt you play now and then when you feel like something different from your main.

Your alt doesn't have preconceived notions from your main. If people knew who my Glom alt was, I probably wouldn't have had such a fun time as I did.

I can't really understand the 'starting over with a clean slate' argument especially when you have problems keeping who you were a secret, heh. Shaddus' complaints exemplify this. If you manage this though, go you.

And fun > guilt. It's still a game.

Also I really hate feeling like a noob and having to retrans all these skills + my shiny arties is a pain. So no alts for me!

Well yeah, that's the biggest deterrent for me. But clean slates also tend to apply to alliances, your social/political status, enemy statuses, etc. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be getting involved in combat for awhile, even with... certain incentives.

Restarting is a lot harder on an already-established character - most people already have a tinted view of them, one way or another, so it's hard to pull off any big changes short of just defecting entirely (which I don't have the heart to do, plus I hate glooms IRL and all that).

Mis typing, hitting ` instead of 1 and it taking the first number..., and biding on the wrong auction sad.gif
Razenth2010-07-24 22:28:29
Not all of us have problems keeping secrets. Tervic probably figured out who I was, but only because I chatted with him OOC. The vast majority of people in Glom I feel, either didn't know I was an alt or who I was. Shaddus just has special problems because he has a damn army of them.

For some people, they just can't do it. For others, the baggage just isn't worth it and they can move on.

Should have traveled light, then! Since we're all about metaphors.

I feel like it's not that difficult to switch orgs unless you have the attitude of a douchebag (this does not mean 'has done douchey things', everyone's done those) where the way you talk or act makes people dislike you. Most people tend to give you the benefit of the doubt if you're at least cordial with them instead of being all 'lolololololol suckas noobs'. And even if you are a douchebag, the way this game works is that being able to fight tends to give you preferential treatment anyway, so that's a bonus.

I like alts, gives you a chance to experience another side to the game, but I've always felt that having one character who you've shared both good and bad times with is infinitely more valuable than creating a new character when you feel like you're down and want to 'reset'.
Noola2010-07-24 22:39:29
I'm usually pretty good at keeping it secret. Though, occasionally, I slip. But, my reason for making alts has more to do with the fact that sometimes I feel like playing something completely different. And moving my main everytime that happened would be insane. Besides the fact that it's often a different kind of character I'm wanting as much as a different location. Keeping my alts secret is mostly so people won't treat my character Susie like she's my character Bob, just with different clothes and hair, or get mad at Susie for something Bob did, or try to get Susie to do things to help Bob's org out.
