So here's how the event works:
Something happened that caused the gods to lose their divinity. One of the reasons perhaps is that one of the gods, in an attempt to outdo their rival gods, have their followers created a machine that released an EMP like energy that effected only the gods, stripping away their divinity and scattered their essences away in aetherspace, reducing them to mortal levels.
Divine Orders temporarily collapse, Divine Favours dissipate and most God abilities do not work at all. Though they lost most of their divine powers, the mortal-turned gods are still powerful enough to defend themselves. So until a fix is made, the gods fear of being defeated by a mere mortal who have plans to still their powers for their own and raise to godhood themselves.
The gods can only do the following at the moment:
Bless their favored followers within the area only, and the favour quickly wear off once out of the god's reach.
Though divine orders are gone, gods could still contact their followers, albeit in a difficult manner, depending on their God's Planar Skill.
The gods must collect essences especially the ones drifting in aetherspace to quickly regain their divine status.
Should a mortal successfully defeated the god's mortal form, they drop an orb that contain the very essence of the god's existence, they can either keep it and raise to godhood themselves taking the former god's mantle, or the followers can perform a ritual to ressurect the god back to Demigod status.
So, what do you think? Comments, Suggestions and Violent Reactions are Welcome.

Just not going to happen.

Not the kind of thing Lusternia has any non-stupid way of accomodating.

Replace Gods with Vernals.
To respond less sarcastically, I strongly doubt they would run any event so directly inspired by any fictional source. There's nothing original in fiction, but nobody likes a copycat.

A) Why is this in Combat Guides?
B) We've already had a "the Divine lose their power" event recently - the fake God thing, with the mimics. Quite fun. Divine Orders persisted, but temples were temporarily gone, and I don't believe any favours were handed out over the period.
C) Plus, uh ... are you trying to open up Godhood for any player character who happens to land a lucky shot (or get a big enough group, or just have the fastest pickup trigger)? And strip it from our current volunteers? No thanks.

Estarra once said that they were DAMN lucky they got someone as good as Ilyarin/Soll as a god because he turned out to be good, and that they wouldn't be likely to try that risk again. This certainly wouldn't happen, and even if it did how soon until someone less than nice steals an orb?
Not gonna happen, never ever.

I demand Vernal Gods.

well, it's just like a sort of fun idea... well if we remove the chance for players to ascend to godhood and just well, have the chance to fight gods in their demigod forms, I mean, who wouldn't right?
As for posting this in the combat guides, I apologize and ask any moderator to change this to under ideas. I was just plain tired yesterday and without my glasses so I thought I was posting this in the Idea section.

Elder Gods cannot become mortal - they are wholly divine. They could splinter, but nobody wants there to be millions of Eventrus running about!

It would be like the merian priestesses He has, except 10x worse.

Special divine power: all says are in bright yellow. As are all attacks and actions.

Yeah, that alone would be a good reason to veto anything similar to this event idea. Eventru and his splintered bits would blind us all!
