I get novice mages telling me spells. And sometimes not so novice... my favorite was when someone was scrying someone right next to me, so I just told them where he was.

I never really understood why people use the SAY command when it is a lot simpler to use the ' instead. :S That's what I do anyway.
I've always typed say out.

what, mistells are priceless.

I use say, my keyboard has a nasty habit of turning French so the ' is always in a different place.
Ssaliss2010-05-06 22:52:15
I always get the constant "se" or "ne" or other directions. People need to learn to press enter instead of space

I still stick by my assertion that increasing the minimum to three letters would vastly reduce the number of mis-tells received. Plenty of people in this thread and elsewhere get them from two-letter mistakes.
Surely four would do the trick almost entirely, though, if not three.

You have no idea how many magnagorans have randomly started following me by trying to follow Daevos, and the things I've learned about Reiha while she was talking to Daedalion have been interesting...

Know what'd fix this way easier? Having CONFIG NAMETELLS OFF as the standard. As in, all novices start with if off.
That'd fix it for Telperion at least
Also, another option that makes it full names only would be good.

Yes please to the first one. I don't get TOO many, but all names starting with "A" get a few!

Or have the default to be nametells off.

Tab completion can help avoid embarrassment. I ignore mistells but secretly enjoy them. If I'm having a long discussion I copy and paste "tell xxx " because it's safer and easier to type than REPLY.

As much as this makes me kind of a hypocrite, I am a REPLY junky.

REPLY utterly terrifies me. I'm far too paranoid to use something that could go so wrong, so easily.
Meaha2010-05-07 05:46:44
Secretly it makes me happy inside when I mistell to Sylphas... they're never on purpose though! ... sometimes I'm just a weirdo

Sometimes, nexus lags in such a way that it accepts letter input but not space input, which if I'm in a fight mashing stuff gets really awkward. So if you ever get something like seneeqlramwallee etc., that's why.

This. That was my favorite part of Telira. What's better than knowing what people are talking about?
Unknown2010-05-07 07:00:33
The best mistells are when they're talking about you on a channel and forget to add ct/clt/gt/etc.
Bob tells you, "Is a ".

This.
Oh, and since I play Siam, I also get:
Skein tells you,"p mana"
Bobbins tells you, "p health"
Spindle tells you, "p bromides"

I used to play Rea in Achaea, and their message system got changed to be 'msg read (number)' rather than readmsg. Ever since that happened, I received at least 40 messages a day with 'd (number)'. I know how obnoxious constant mis-things must be, which is why I go for names in Lusternia when I make my alt armies that won't get me them.
