Anyone got any suggestions where I might meet someone? Gay bars/clubs haven't ever worked for me. I hate dancing.

You could try a site like meetup.com. There might be a group of singles with similar preferences, interests, etc. If there isn't then you could try organizing one. Attend events and mingle with like-minded people.

Let's see: An older man who's an employed homeowner; likes his alone time and personal space; isn't superstitious; is liberal (and most likely tolerant, open-minded); enjoys some physical activity and is in decent shape; appreciates classical music, literature, the arts, and appreciates the value of education; has a sophisticated palate and doesn't mind having fun. It seems like quite a few Lusternians are, actually. I don't think I could start listing them all.

Bars and clubs will never offer you real dancing. You sound a lot like me, creepily so, so I feel like offering that I learned actual, legitimate dancing (swing, tango, salsa, ballroom) and fell in love with it.

That said, you're a decade older than me and on the other side of the planet. (At least, Europe is as good as that.) You've always seemed like a cool guy, though, so you probably won't have trouble finding anyone. Loneliness is pretty normal, fortunately temporary. And gay clubs/bars are usually bad places to find lasting companionship in, I've always figured.

Mmm-hmm. I'm completely tolerant of everyone's sexual and gender identities, of course, but that's such a perfectly tantalizing description, and then... oh, darn. Out of reach!
