Why not turn Indigo into a skill that has an X% chance to detect dreambody/ghost entry to the room, and somewhat similar to Balancing: have an X% chance to fade away when triggered, and still has a heavy drain while up.

That would be awesome, except that Dreamweaving (the core of the 'problem) needs to be fixed first. How, I do not know. Rapture code does not allow 1 character = 2 locations, but that's exactly what Dreamweaving is.

I'd complain about this making chandeliers worthless, but... hey, nevermind, chandeliers are already nearly worthless at their cost and with the limits on where they can go, so sure, go for it.

Incidentally, same thing for chockmah, and it'd be nice if you could use it that way or how it works now, instead of giving up one for the other.

Ew please no.
Doman2010-05-11 14:59:01
why no?
Xavius2010-05-12 00:15:03
1) when the dreamweaver starts attacking, you can see the dreamweaver
2) you're stepping on Crow's and Artisan's toes
3) the best parts of dreamweaving don't involve trying to gank lowbies at the nexuses

No thanks.

why no?

3 or more people in the same room with it on trigger to invoke violet once for every possible enemy dreamweaver/ghost/whatever equals instant death upon entering the room. And even if it was added in so invoking without a target there used mana, an essentially free, instant chandelier anywhere? No thanks. xp

Entirely unnecessary and makes catching dreamweavers too easy. The difference between passive and active detection is huge, and would make being a dreamweaver even more dull.

Maybe once Lusternia figures it out, we can have arenawatch back smirk.gif

I think you guys are missing the "drains wp" defence. You can't leave it up, you just don't have to spam it once you've caught one. Half the time you're forced to run in and out of rooms spamming your violet alias without regard for indigo anyway, so it's really not like it stops much.

Well you don't leave it on all the time, duh.

This would change indigo from something occasionally necessary to find a dreamweaver's name, to something excellent for catching ghosts or weavers. Can you not see the MASSIVE difference between running around trying to find somebody by spammning violet, or spamming it in a single room, and having it just fire off of a trigger when they run past.

How about a passive, willpower-draining defense that allowed you to see dreamweavers in the room if you QL or L, but still masks the entrance and exit of the dreamweaver?

I actually like Indigo as it is, but if people want a passive one, that might be a suggestion.

Yeah, but...that's a good change. Right now there isn't anything that lets you catch ghosts or weavers at all. They can put out a non-zero amount of harrassment on you.

EDIT: Well, weavers can.

How about we fix it, THEN figure out how to tweak it? tongue.gif

That's not true. Even Crowsfeet, which is far less powerful than this proposal, often means instant death for dreamweavers if they're seen twice. Crowsfeet can be mimicked easily enough by spamming violet/kether into an empty room, which I know from painful experience people do.
Shiri2010-05-12 11:41:46
And then you're off-eq instead of violeting them, as if that really mattered that much most of the time.

EDIT: You put indigo, so that's why I said it off-eqed you.
Xavius2010-05-12 11:45:52
Again, not true. EDIT: Oh, wait, Chockmah is the wrong one. That might've been confusing. I'll edit that as soon as I look it up.

I have much love for Crowsfeet.

Dreamweavers hate it.

Extremely limited in scope (especially with dreamweaving so buggy that dreamweavers can't use it) so Spiderweb is far better nearly all the time, but when a DW is being a pest can trigger the nose twitching to violet the culprit. Die, DW, die! Run, DW, run!
