I'd love a way to enchant crowns/hats/veils/whatever to function as helms (in place of any other enchant, in the case of crowns) instead of extending the RAISE HOOD thing (or in place of it).
Estarra2010-05-18 20:49:12
I don't like the idea of enchanted veils but I'll think about hats.
Xiel2010-05-18 20:51:12
As long as the disparity is addressed, pretty please!
I'll design you a specially suited pink hat with a stuffed aerial perched on top if you did.

Omg, I can just imagine Talan now, fighting in her enchanted fruit hat.

I was thinking more of something like this when I mentioned veils. It's not a huge deal either way - you can just sort of wing it with "petite, veiled hat" of some variant.

I can think of some lovely wide brimmed hats too like the old mourning hats.

TRADEMASTERS NEWS #311

From: the Charites, the Administrators of Crafts
To  : Everyone
Subj: Another Exciting Development!
We were able to add the pattern for 'a twinkling hat' to those available
to tailors. This hat will work just like the hood does on a greatrobe or
splendour robe, providing protection to the head of the wearer. Although
splendour hat designs will be accepted, currently the code is not in
place to allow their creation alongside your splendour gown or suit. We
will let all of you know when everything is functioning as it should,
and for now if you are interested, you could pair a great"robe" type hat
with your splendours.
The commodity outlay required for these special gowns and suits have
been lowered. Although greatrobes require 125 commodities, gowns and
suits only require 100. The greatrobe hat will cost another 25
commodities, making up the difference. Similarly, splendour robes are
currently set at 200 commodities, while gowns and suits are at 150, and
the hats will require 50 more. Please message us if you have any
questions or run across any problems with these new patterns!

Very neat, and quick response on that! So how exactly do they work? The splendour gowns/suits get enchanted, and then that hat is enchanted as well? Are the proofable?

After they fix the code first, that sounds like what will happen with splendours.
Time to design new splendours for Aoife, and some awesome gowns and suits for Gaudis.

This may be the dumbest question of all, but... if you had one of these hats worn with regular robes whose hood was down, would that give you the same protection? (Obviously, you'd be spending extra commodities for no improvement in effect, but if the fashion of it were better, it'd be nice to know if it worked.)

I was able to don a great robe and a hat at the same time. Trying to raise the robe's hood yielded "You already have something protecting your head." So yes.
I would leave the testing to you people, but no one's submitted a design for any of the new patterns yet!

Oh believe me, I'll be working on my snazzy Geomancer Furrikin suit soon enough.
Shaddus2010-05-19 03:08:45
Yeah, the Charites messed up letting us make suits. I can think of all sorts of suits. All kinds.
Xiel2010-05-19 03:10:37
<--working on it.
Also, I'm assuming you enchant the suit/gown separately from the hat. You can proof the suit/gown but not the hat. You can get robes and wear a hat if you want, but enchating both robes and a hat will just cost you more, but if you wanna be spiffy with an enchanted cap and robes, go for it.
After the hat enchanting goes in anyway, but yay.

I'm waiting for Arix to design a lobstrosity suit to go with the slippers.
