Unless it's a "bonnet hat"...
Well, yes. This is exactly what is expected. Have you not seen all the crazy things people have done with platter patterns, nevermind robes (some of Rattusk's designs come to mind immediately)?
Whatever it takes to evoke the proper image you need.
Aramel2010-05-19 15:17:42
@Felicia: Yeah, "robe" is a nice noun, and I can work with that.
Edit @ Vendetta: For various reasons, most of which are to do with my own OCD-ness, I'd rather not do that. I can see why people might want to, it's just not something that I'd like to do in a design. I do remember someone trying to customize their pig nose into a nose pendant, but no idea how that went.

All is not lost after all! I have located an acceptable hat design:

And everyone else would still look at her and envision an elf in an elaborate gown, top hat, monocle and moustache.
EDIT: Not gonna help Aramel's situation, but...
EDIT: This isn't bad for a hat though.
EDIT: DEFINITELY GETTING THIS INGAME

How did I know a hat discussion would bring Shiri out of the woodwork to post Touhou links.

PEOPLE!
You should just drop th subject entirerly if hats are good for female characters or not. That is not the point. The point is, we now can have this:
AND this:
Forget forging changes, the addition of Hallifax and Gaudigooch, removal of Wisp and Murphy. This is the single most significant change in Lusternia. PERIOD.

Make that hat blue instead of green and it's the one Xaz wears anyway.
Excited for some colourful enchantable suit/hat combos!

Tut tut upon the singularity and spelling issues good sir! Very naughty.
I said I liked to design things, I never said I was any good at it.

Be glad I'm only posting Touhou and not Girl Genius.

a voluminous grey silk gown trimmed with silver
Not my most creative effort ever, but hooray for publicly available greatrobe gowns!

Silver is way more popular than gold in this game. I wonder if that has to do strictly with in-game culture, or if it is a real world generational thing with OOC-influences.
Diamondais2010-05-20 20:36:56
I should design the silver, gold and moon cloth dresses from East. They'd fit perfectly in with splendor gowns.
Sylphas2010-05-20 22:49:58
A lot of it likely is cultural. Silver is traditionally the metal of the moon and Faerie, so Serenwilde at least has a major love of it. I'd love to see Hartstone push more Stag stuff on the 'wilde, though, including more gold.
Eventru2010-05-20 22:53:30
It's real-world influenced, I suspect. Except in some cultures, I've noticed people in my/our generation and in the general such range seem more attracted to silver than gold. At least, americans.
Aoife2010-05-20 23:08:28
I think it's a mix of both.
Gaudiguch is a place I see as using more gold, so I incorporate that into my Flameweaver-only designs, but for public designs I design whatever I feel like doing that day, and I do like silver better.
I'm also the person filling up the underused pattern types

I'm more attracted to silver than gold IRL, but the grandparents love gold way more. So, from a purely anecdotal point of view, it may be generational.
My love for silver IG is best left unmentioned, lest I steal the e-silver from everyone via telepathy.

Still irritated that the Charites won't let me make costumes from the suits.
