Have you tried simply asking someone - the CL, one of the councils, one of the ministers, etc., "Hey, what can I do to help? I've got idle hands, put em to work."
He has.

After my recent disillusionment, I'm really only logging in because I'm a Champion. When I inevitably step down from/lose that, I will likely stop logging in unless something really seems attractive. I was banking on the Illuminati two or three months ago and we got the Templar instead. I can't complain, but it was just not ideal for me, seeing as I feel a rather seriously sense of futility regarding everything to do with Gaudiguch or Warriors or PK in general (the main draw of IRE, to me). My sense of futility is not for this thread though.
If you really want to play so bad, go join a guild. I know you said you 'can't afford to waste your pile of lessons' - if you can't bring yourself to do that, don't mention not being able to play due to a lack of interesting avenues. I bet you're just waiting like I am anyways.

It's rough for those of us waiting for the guardian guilds. I've got Xaakin doing absolutely nothing in the Aeromancers because I don't want to waste my precious lessons on stuff I'm inevitably going to forget. Just be patient though and we'll get what we've been wanting soon enough.
Akraasiel, Lucan really liked your character and even called Akraasiel his friend when Kameen asked about him. I'd be willing to RP with you more at some point. You could join Lucan and his son for some random RP, because Drezneth has no idea where to go with his character either. Could smoke and drink and tell stories together.

There are also guidelines put in that make it rather easy to achieve up to City Rank three which doesn't take very long to do, so it's easy to achieve that, just check out Chelp Cityfavours

Already did so, months ago. Not worried so much about CR beyond the ability to participate in revolts. It's just a matter of time before they finally add me to the list. I'm being patient.

Did you message Kalin regarding the new stuff? I'm pretty sure it's not retroactive, so you need to message him when you finish what you've done.

Someone recommended finding a schtick, and I just wanted to weigh in on that: If you do this, make damn sure you can live with it, because even if you decide you didn't like it and stop it, people will still remember it FOREVER. There was a period of maybe two months IRL that Arix was just drunk off his ass 24/7. This ended when he joined Celest, but people kept going on about it forever. It's only recently, with the influx of new players and the marginalisation of the old players who remember old Arix, that I was finally able to bury the Boozemaster.
Arcanis2010-06-01 13:15:00
I dont usually use or look at the forums much, but wanted to say something about this. Akraasiel you always had this small problem of overcomplicating things, of like trying to find solutions to problems that are almost non-existent, and rather then ask yourself these questions, you seek others to answer them for you. In truth the best advice I think for you is simply to: Stop over thinking things, breathe alittle, open your eyes, and see what you can do to pass your time and build yourself up in Lusternia.
Gregori I'm not sure why you have this obsession with bringing me up in almost every post of yours, but let me clarify a few things you stated. First off you said that I was one of the people that sits around and complains about what the city is and ignoring what it really is, when in fact it isn't us that are ignoring what it is really about, but you and those friends that are close to you. You yourself have stated more then once you hate the concept of how Gaudiguch was viewed as with Freedom (and even how it was mentioned in the histories) and mostly state that you want it to be different and try to change it.
You stated that Akraasiel was the one that didn't listen to the Collegium tutors about what they said Gaudiguch is about, when it actually seems you are the one who didn't listen. You constantly insist that Gaudiguch is actually a city of behind the door sects and cults and mysteries, and that it isnt actually mostly a place of fun and free will. That can't be further from the truth, what you are refusing to see is that Gaudiguch is about freedom and the pursuit of it, and of, well, doing crazy stuff. The behind the scenes thing is only the Illuminati who are part of this freedom, in a way you could say their chaotic ways symbolizes the freedom in Gaudiguch. Until you actually see what Gaudiguch really is about, you will never actually become a good and respected leader (and lets hope there is still time for you to be respected what with most everyone displeased with you up there).
Also you stated that the citizens aren't motivated and don't care. Why do you think that is? Because it takes forever for any progress to be seen by the leadership in the first place, or even any care for growth and fairness. How long did it take for any change or fix-ups to be seen? And in the end we finally see an actual scroll depicting how to earn favors in the city to come out. And lets not forget when favors in the past were being given out to certain people for odd reasons such as "able to stand in one spot for a relatively long time" when other citizens were dying trying to defend fire plane. I ask that you yourself try and think over what freedom is and write your own small essay about it and submit it for that contest.
That is all I had to say about this, I dont really post ever if much and doubt I will again.
I hope so....

See, I don't understand you, or Arcanis for that matter, in this regard. You both joined Templars so you could get Paradigmatics and then quit the guild to sit around doing basically nothing other than talk about how things don't work in the city, should work in the city, the city isn't what you expected it to be, all the while ignoring what the city really is. Of course you are bored. You shut yourself out of a good portion of what makes logging in fun and then alienate people by coming out of the blue after 6 months acting like you are the wise one who knows all about Gaudiguch.
Most of the city isn't drowning in "ennui", and I am pretty certain that's not the word you meant to use anyways. If you can't hunt or do anything that is nobodies fault but your own. If the city is not what you expected it to be, perhaps that's cause you read three paragraphs in a history and made perceptions that were based on a slice of the city. Have you even talked to any denizens in the city? I see you graduated the collegium, but did you do everything there or did you skim it and not pay attention to the sub text?
This isn't meant as an insult, rather than an observation of your character, either. Really, all I can say is get involved in more than "it would be so much better if Gaudiguch was the way I dreamed it." If you have to search for reasons to log on, there is no point in logging on.

Perhaps there are some mechanics that I've missed that prevent this, but can't Akraasiel join a friendly guild of the same archetype as whatever he's waiting for? Once there, he can learn whatever skills he can that are transferable, whilst making it clear to the guild that he's only there to study until he can return to Gaudiguch and join whatever it is. In actuality, he can also work on building connections that will be useful to him when he finally leads Gaudiguch to take its rightful place in the sun*!

He can, and he did. I was fine with him being in the Templars to just learn Paradigmatics and understood that a lot of people were disappointed Templars came out first and were just using it like a transition country before migrating to something they believed was better. He left though, I'm not exactly sure why as he never spoke with me about it.
I've never stated anyone isn't allowed to rejoin, that'd be fairly silly. I just get irate when people try to learn the guild skills from me without being in the guild, I find that a big no no.

Without having read everything said in the discussion, Gaudiguch -is- sort of a city of cults, cabals, mystery and intrigue. Personally, the city and culture seems designed to fit in 'goddess cult' sort of affairs - and I use the term with a relative sense of looseness - but one cannot, of course, say there 'isn't freedom'. Gaudiguch is the City of Freedom with a Freedom Council.
However - and again, without really knowing the underlying discussion - it is a city of Free Will, but I've always seen it with the undertones of good intentions. I've always imagined Gaudiguch as a 'chaotic good' city, so to speak - Love is the Law, Love under Will - with a sense of 'morality'. And by that I mean more of a humanist mentality, and less of a religious dogma (as opposed to Celest, which is all about dogma). In fact, I'd probably draw the strongest correlation to Cosmic Humanism, aka 'New Age' spirituality. It's all about the occult and esoteric-y goodness, which if you look into it is generally a positive-themed mentality. I can't see a cult designed to worship (insert soulless god here) going over very well, because the social stigma would probably choke it out - since the ultimate goal of any such cult would be nihilistic and have the end goal of being consumed by a Soulless - but I could see cabals seeking enlightenment through the ideals/approaches/what have you of (Tzaraziko the Enigmatic for obvious reasons, Dynara because she is the source of Creation and made the fleshpots and used them to form Divine, etc etc). Not necessarily worshiping any of those, but revering them, their approaches and methods, and seeking to use them to reach Enlightenment. I could be out in left field, though! I think Gaudiguch has immense potential, personally! I think the mere fact your collegium is one such 'secret order'/cult sort of setup should be a good tip in the direction that Gaudiguch probably had quite a few of such 'gatherings'.
With that comes the good and the bad, of course. You get your crazies, and you get your real innovative thinkers who put a whole new spin on how people around them contemplate existence.
Edit: And I also feel the need to reiterate that the opposite of Chaos is not Order, it is Harmony. Orderly Chaos exists (see: Templar, cults, etc). Disorderly Chaos exists, too, of course. Just as disorderly Harmony exists. Somewhere.
Probably Elostian's closet.

Eventru gets Akuipoints for that post.
Gaudi is a lot of things. I personally adore it- I've been more active and involved with my org in the months since Gaudi came out than I was in all the time I was in Seren.
Gaudiguch is a city where what you see isn't what you get. Except when it is. There's the layer of "party culture", which is loud and visible, and then a morass of different views and beliefs that compliment and clash with eachother. This differs from Hallifax, which doesn't favor the self-conflicting nature of Gaudi, rather stressing harmonious, regimented systems that favor the greater good.
BUT, apart from the ragingly OOC aspects of this conversation, its also one that would be fun to have IC. In fact, there's an essay contest in the city where the subject is about Gaudi's freedom.

Plainly speaking you may want to go back to collegium and start learning about the city you only recently joined and seem to think you know all about, and are clearly wrong on all counts.
