This is actually a decent idea. Though in Gaudiguch it takes an entire city 10 years to raise 1.5 million gold. I fear the Illuminati would have had 3 leadership changeovers before they got enough for a guild tutor shop.
Guild shop. Illuminati only bin.

I thought about that after, and we just happen to have a guild shop that I can pass over once elections finish.

Really? Llesvelt takes it dead seriously and it is a first on his mind most of the time.
It has generally worked out pretty well so far.

It would be so much more pleasent if the admin would let more viable people in as founders or even just advance them. You know, people who have been guardians, and aren't just looking for the flavour of the week? People who have been around in the city as a guardian?

<--- was too. Are you in the illuminati? Did you get founder status?
Or are there novices in the guild before you were?

I'm a founder, yes. Running for Grand Cipher.

At risk of inflaming a conversation, I don't see what devotion to the Supernals as a priest - or to a Demon Lord as an evil priest - has to do with the Illuminati or the Institute.
Neither are a very priestly guild. One is a secretive society with a history filled with --redacted by someone!!!--, the other is a learned institute for study of time, energy and science.
The founders should be picked on their capabilities as individuals, their creativity and their inclination towards what the administration (well, what Estarra's told the administration) they historically would be like.
Because, quite honestly, while Celestines and Nihilists are different sides of the same coin...
The Illuminati and the Institute are in a whole different currency.

It won't when you're supposed to be the same ranks and power as the Archmage and Primus within the city and yet you swear to obey them. Basically, if I took the oath to a 'T' and obeyed it, we would really have no say in the city at all. Not much different from when Incabulos was around, but the point is, if you want a healthy guild, then that idea will not fully work. Trust me, I have tried something similar when running a guild before. It is there and I can never get rid of it, but I can change the meaning and the argument within the guild while keeping the vow there. Aloysha has the right idea sometimes.

You have to keep in mind, the oath is to "serve the reigning Archmage and Primus" not "obey the reigning Archmage and Primus". If they would be better served by you completely ignoring their instructions and doing something else, than, by golly, I guess you're going to have to do that!
Shaddus2010-06-28 00:11:45
I think it's more of serving in a military sense, not being their house slave on the weekends after a drunken binge.

This is why being full of yourself and having a psycho GM is a GOOD thing.

Except clearly your guild knows whats best for the Archmage and Primus. You had to kill them in order to save them! Etcetc.

I kind of wish that there was a different Tet choice available for Guardians. There isn't one that feels distinctly Illuminati. Astrology is totally Institute, both Hexes/Tarot both work really well for Nihilists, and Healing fits perfectly for Celestines.
But there isn't anything that really feels Illuminati. Astrology seems the closest, but its too much a science.
Oh. You know what would be awesome? A different version of Astrology for the Illuminati. Where as Lucidian Astrology deals with the solar system, the Illuminati Astrology could deal with black stars and mad constellations from the void beyond. That, or maybe astral. Could be Astralogy!

Astrology and Tarot both seem decidedly illuminati to me.
But I just have this image in my head of Sayochi reading people's fortunes, foretelling doom by the movement of stars, and dealing okorushi joints out of the Palace of Pleasure.
Edit: And why do people think the Illuminati are all soulless-y? I've always gotten a very 'chaotic good' vibe from Gaudiguch!
Aliod2010-06-28 02:12:33
Because people like Sterotypes based off of alliances
Shaddus2010-06-28 02:13:14
I thought that the Illuminati would be Hexes, Healing, Tarot. Institute would be Hexes, Healing, Astro.
ongaku2010-06-28 02:16:58
Giving them Hexes rather than Healing might give people the impression that they're evil, considering the Nihilists are the same way.
And I think it really depends on how you play your character there. I don't necessarily see it as chaotic good, but simply chaotic. I think anyone from good to evil could justifiably live there.
