You'll have to bear with us and allow us to open the guilds slowly as we're doing now. There were complaints before that we were rushed the opening of previous guilds which allowed for certain factions to game who became guild leaders or there were complaints of too many young/unworthy/fillintheblank members. Thus, the admin will select the founders over the next 12 hours or so (sorry no voting who's a founder or arbitrary playing time requirements--no, it's not fair), then they'll elect leaders among themselves over an expedited election, then they can run the guild as they want and we'll open the guild publicly (probably on monday).

that is actually an awesome method.

This is probably for the best. I know that, even with the limited number of people who were in the Templars founding, there was concern that group A was attempting to stack the deck, so Group B got defensive and sarted to do the same. And, for all practical measurements, whether the concern about nefariousness was justified or not, voting was largely run right down "group" lines.

So a full set of 10 founders inducted over a period of time would probably make it slightly less political.

Err... the Hallifax selection process is all but guaranteeing that Elostians order members will be the founders. I like that it will go throughout the day but... yeah I already hear the whole ooc "the founders of the researchers were all Elostians order members".

Obviously difficult to avoid in a one god city though

Yup, basically.

That is kinda unfair, ICly I am certainly no fan of Elostian and even accused him from planting his order members, but I highly doubt the administrator behind him would stoop to that level.

If I were to laugh about anything it would be the fact that the current founders of the Institute are a former GM, GA and GC of the Aeromancers.

Oh I'm not saying that Elostian is sitting there going "now how can I rig this?"

What I am saying is that while this selection process might make sense for the guild, the most likely result is ten members of Elostians order.
Razenth2010-06-26 22:53:36
Affirmative action go!

Actually, implying that the founders got in because we're all just in Elo's order is unfair. Nihmriel, Ileein and myself have done a fair bit of writing and whatnot (which is prompted, by and large, by Elostian). Technically, anyone could have gotten in, had they the motivation to just compile their own scientific resume. Elostian pretty much forces you into that, though, ergo the result we're seeing.
Eventru2010-06-26 23:09:57
Elostian is not the sole deciding factor in Founder status.
Tekora2010-06-26 23:20:34
Hey, I got in and I'm not in Elostian's order. So there you go.

All I'm going to say is the Transmology has the most awesome flavour ever. Can't speak to how the skills function yet, but my god, I've never been so interested in reading AB files. Thank you, Creatrix + Admin.

It's not a good skill for vegetarians.

I am a member of Elostians order? The comment was made to me already though in less than an hour after they were selected.

As I said just the most likely result of the founder criteria, which with Estarras post seems ironic dunno.gif

I love the way Transmology works and I'm eager to see how Harmonics operates.

I also have a bone to pick with the founder status situation, but frankly, if they want to be fair about it, I can't really argue if they view that as 'fair'. All elections will be gamed - no election will ever be fair. This just overcomplicates the process and renders half of the population flooding each guild 'useless' in the case of an attack or something.
Aloysha2010-06-26 23:48:54
Someone update the Wiki.
Unknown2010-06-26 23:51:04
Sooo... when will the other players find out about the new abilities in Transmology? When the guild gets opened to the public?

As for its flavour, this is highly subjective, I know... but is it better than Nihilism? tongue.gif

Nothing can go wrong with a passively transfixing ent. None at all.

I'll try and get a thread with lines soon though, neat stuff.
