New Guilds: Illuminati and Institute

I'm curious.. did the Divine supply the Illuminati with any actual "secrets"? Or right now are the laws and stuff that talk about sharing the inner secrets just sort of there to be there?

Not that I'm asking what it is, I'm just curious if they gave us any ground to work with, since the guild is supposedly an ancient ancient ancient order, or if the guild itself has to come up with its own mysteries.

Let's cut back all gem supply and raise prices.

I think the administration's decision to double commodity costs is going to do that for us. Mountain rockeaters are frequently bashed out, and Eventru seems to think that you can actually do full marine and deepstone rockeater runs before they repop. Org comm shops either sell at ridiculously high prices or, like poor Glomdoring who made the mistake of listening to an administrative rant to the exclusion of reason, ran out. The actual supply of gems wasn't keeping pace with demand before the release of the Institute. Once Ptoma's and Ix-illithoid-xa's comm shops are fixed, prices will skyrocket, and the days of 30 gold gems will die a fiery death.

I'm not 100% sure if there's something the guild leaders know and just aren't telling me, which would be fine, but from my end it looks like we have to make up our own. Which we have plans for!

If you tickle the left pinky toe on the statue in the third street of the city when the sun aligns with the dragon... magic?

That's pretty much what I figured. Which means, really, that the guild is going to come up with something, and then the admin are later going to spring a plot on us that totally contradicts it. tongue.gif

Well, I don't want to assume they have nothing in mind...and in theory the whole fleshcrafting thing should be a secret, only trying to keep that act up with our combat skills and beastmastery out and a HELP ILLUMINATI scroll will kind of be like obvious-taint-era Glom, in a painful sort of way. Anyway, we have at least some threads to work from in the existing histories, so it won't be like bards/monks, I'd think.

Ha, yes.

Silk and cloth aren't far behind. The commodity change decision is still the most seemingly random and pointlessly painful thing I've seen done to this game in a while.

The idea was nifty, but it really screwed with some stuff because it just came out of nowhere, yet was supposedly part of the guilds histories.

I really wish the Illuminati had more established fluff already. I want to be sucked in, but right now its all just in limbo.

I think one thing that annoyed me the most about the hartstone/grutina thing, was that it was supposed to be some big secret that no one was supposed to tell anyone about...

a few days later it was public knowledge

Only guild I've ever seen keep a real secret were the Occultist's in Achaea.

No idea if their info is still secret any more, but for a while it was pretty well-guarded.
Shiri2010-07-02 03:37:55
Apparently that broke down years and years ago as the game started to open up. This was back when full ABs weren't posted on Xiel's site within 3 hours of a guild opening.

Hiding skill lines in order to pwn your enemies is such a retarded way to win the e-war though, so I make it a point to put lines up as soon as I can, in order to at the very least thumb my nose at those bastards.

Even if people know what you can do, it does not make you suddenly not mysterious and secretive.
Shiri2010-07-02 04:30:30
Hey, I was one of the ones bitching out the Ninjakari for trying to pull that censor.gif a couple years ago, I'm A-OK with putting the lines up ASAP. Just saying, part of the secrecy was on that subject and it wouldn't work anymore.
