Don't worry so much about Paths and stuff. You're going to change them over, and over, and over as your roleplay establishes further. So establish that roleplay solidly first.

Except that in the case of the Illuminati, the paths are hardcoded in. So its not like we're designing paths or anything--we have Paths build into our skillset. So establishing the RP for those paths is pretty much what I'm talking about.

Well, if you've chosen a path, might as well start doing something in your spare time while your Secretary/Head of choice moves into gear. That's what I've been trying to do, at least.

(Also - yeah we're still pretty much faking it. Dunno what the Inveiglora is, nor homunculi, at least not yet.)

You get learning messages? *jealous*

And just so it is clear, TVtropes used Unobtainium long before Avatar.

This is sort of silly.

"Well, the guild can't set its RP because the admin haven't given us info. But you go ahead and set your RP even though the guild hasn't given you any info."

They're new. So you might have yours now too.

Well, if you think of the mound you can make at Trans as your own personal little 'womb' then maybe the body that comes out of it when you ressurect someone/yourself from it, is the homunculi? I mean, if you look at the mound, you can see that there's toes and eyes and noses poking out 'trying to escape' and all. dunno.gif

That's just my own guess though and is prolly wrong. laugh.gif

If there are Harmonics learning messages now, would someone PM me them? I'm Trans and can't see them anymore. sad.gif

You know, that might actually be close to right. It says we can't create perfect sentient life yet, but we can get close and make a living being that looks just like someone else or ourselves.

Which, if that's the case, while the idea is cool that we are actually rezzing people into homunculi... the potential for homunculi is so much greater.

Do your own RP and, if the guild as a whole thinks you're lame, they'll inform you for your lameness and you can either change your RP or argue and point out how you're RP is cooler. BAM, roleplay established for the guild.

I didn't actually say that, at all.

1. I said that until the pathways are up, if you're so hard-bent on sticking to them you might as well entertain yourself with personal RP based on the paths (you don't need guidance for this).
2. Separately, nobody actually knows what a homunculus, nor what the Champion pet is, so we're sorta faking knowing both, this entire statement having nothing to do with the former.

Alright. Sorry for expecting certain members of the guild to do the jobs they volunteered for. tongue.gif
Sarrasri2010-07-03 20:31:29
It's probably better for the guild members to sort out the roleplay anyways, with guidance being how people react. I mean, Templars have been out for a while now, but with some work of a couple people, I think it's going to get a bit more established for its own RP.

Do you need the guild to wipe your nose too?

Aside from advancement in the path you choose, you should pretty much be able to RP any path based off 1. Its name and 2. the description of it given in the AB file.

If you can't do either then you need more than ghelps are going to provide for you.

With my experience in Elostian's Order and in general being a GM for at least 2 RL years, people would be highly upset if we required anything really scientific to advance (even when the "scientific" requirements are no harder than requirements of other guilds). Essentially about 5 people would make it past the scientific requirements. I think what people don't realize is that Lusternian science is no different than Lusternian religion. Writing up a sermon about the Demon Lords is about the same as writing a scientific theory (except we have a little bit more background knowledge of the Demon Lords), you are creatively inventing some fact or statement about a story using the knowledge your character has about that facet of the story.

See, what you just described is something I think is awesome.

I think what kicked off the complaint chain was the requirement was to come up with a -testable- theory on -temporal- science, not a theoretically falsifiable theory about anything sciencey, and while the intent may have been something much more open ended (like what you just described), the testable time thing is what it said, and you have to admit that's pretty daunting in and of itself.

The only reason I gave this dead horse another kick wasn't to keep the oh so informative debate going, but it's because I think it would be sad if you or the other guild mojos got discouraged because you thought people were just complaining to be sourpusses. The vibe I got was more like, "I have no idea how to come up with a testable theory of time." And in the end, it helped the Institute clarify the intent of that requirement, so, you know, rock on (I don't mean that to be a racist comment).
Noola2010-07-04 01:36:55
Setting aside roleplay (which can be made up individually even if there are advancement tasks available), surely a list of tasks isn't the only way to get a guildfavor in the Illuminati.

Or the Institute for that matter.

I've come to only expect racism from you, Demetrios.

I love you.

It took me a good 30 seconds or so to get this.

It's not.
Noola2010-07-04 02:05:21
I didn't think so. So, sitting idle, waiting for advancement tasks is silly. biggrin.gif
