I hope the players in charge of shaping the Institute as a newborn guild do what they can to play up the time travel angle. Without wanting to say anything bad about the Sentinels or those within the guild, particularly as I did nothing myself to help them, I was disappointed by the lack of attention given to time travel roleplay, despite it being their biggest draw card.
How can you do that, though? We can't actually go back in time beyond what we are limited to with our aeonics skills. Unless you want to take the path that Aloysha took and we already know how that turned out.

Does the damage from ruby stones for Institutionalists (?) depend on your intelligence? This is relevant to my interests.

We tried to 'structure' it so as to try and mitigate the los of petals in the pots, by having people with mounds at various pots that could help each other out instead of harvesting from the pots themselves. This was an attempt to mitigate the soon to be 'stripharvesting' and get the pots built up some more. If there is no mound, then you probably should have put one there, after all that's what we said... find a pot with no mound at first and get them all covered.
I dunno. It just seem silly. The fleshpots are all over a thousand, the max you'd get out of a mound if you NEVER used it was 100...

....the more flesh the mound has, the faster it grows new flesh. So, you harvest it down a little, so it's still got enough to recover quickly, and when it tops up, you harvest again. You keep doing this, gathering a large stockpile in your own inventory, whilst everyone else is doing the same with their mounds at different locations. You then trade amongst each other for flesh, allowing you to build an inventory without draining the reserves of the fleshpots as much.
Seriously, do you -ever- think before you post?

uh we had 15+ people in the guild today. If each one of them could have drawn that 'over 1000' would be gone almost instantly. 1000 petals is not much at all, and you are right, 100 is the max from a mound, but if Meir gives me 25 of his wads and I give him 25 of my wads, that's 50 wads that didn't get drawn from the petals when they are barely going to sustain the guild as it is right now.
I am terribly sorry that trying to lay some ground work for the guild to work with is a Bad Thing in your eyes. I am sure when the elections start and you win GM you can make any changes you want.
Edit: maybe instead of doing nothing, except telling people to vote for you as grand Cipher, you could have spent the last 6 months gathering entities so we wouldn't have this problem and hey! It would make it look like you actually deserved the job too.

TRANSMOLOGY - FLESHMOUND
Syntax: FLESHCALL FLESHMOUND
FLESHMOUND STATUS
FLESHMOUND HARVEST
FLESHMOUND STORE
FLESHMOUND REANIMATE
Power: 10 (Eternal Flame) (to raise mound and to reanimate)
Flesh: 10
You can raise a flesh mound at the base of any fleshpot on the Vortex plane. That mound will slowly regenerate flesh of that type (up to 100). The mound will last indefinitely so long as the caster uses it at least once a year. The more flesh is in the mound, the faster it will regenerate. You can STORE flesh in the mound or HARVEST flesh for your own use. The mound has several other benefits:
Reanimate - You can place a corpse on the mound and reanimate that corpse to full life so long as there is 25 flesh within the mound (which will be consumed).
Vortex Protection - If the caster dies on the Plane of Vortex, he or she will automatically be resurrected in the flesh mound at the cost of 25 flesh within the mound.
Aura Enhancement - While in the same room as the flesh mound, the caster's transmological aura will be enhanced to supranormal levels.
NOTE: If the fleshpot that your mound is under dies, the fleshmound will be rendered useless and unnable to utilize any of its abilities.

It still says in there that it regenerates slowly. Untill we have seen the monthly regen rates, and how much of a difference it makes, I am operating under the assumption that faster then slow is still slow. Please, calm yourself. The fleshmound just seems more like something meant to augment your own reserves, rather then feed 6+ people to me. It's why I think it's a bit silly to use it like it's meant to feed the whole guild.
EDIT: And derp, ninjad by Gregori, I know that, and I'm not contesting the fact. I'm just making a simple statement. If you notice, I haven't actually placed my fleshmound at a spot that's already taken, I'm just poking around on Vortex and trying to figure out which one is used more, and has less petals.
Razenth2010-06-27 03:59:38
Um, there are like ten different flesh pots. A flesh mound can make one kind of flesh. I don't know about you, but it seems obvious to me that your individual flesh mound is not going to be very useful if you're the only one using it.

So, you'd rather we don't attempt to reduce the impact at all, rather than accept that we might be able to reduce it only a little?
I'm not suggesting this is completely going to replace the need to use fleshpots completely. We're just trying to reduce the impact. It might work, it might not. If it works, great. If it doesn't...well, at least people -attempted- to improve things, instead of just being 100% useless for the last six months and complaining about any initiative that anyone else tried to take.

Unfortunately I have to rain on the time travel parade further:
With the release of the Guardian guilds, the Warrior guilds are temporarily thrown to the side, at least until they can 'recover' and find their 'niche'. Generally speaking, 'Guardian of (Guardian Guild Here)' doesn't cut it (see: Serenguard) for making the guild an engaging one.
The Sentinels have the 'mercenary' thing going for them, to an extent, but that's 'mercenaries in service of Hallifax'. Nobody can really effectively play up the 'time police' angle, either (this goes for Institute too):
1. You can't actually travel back and forth in time with Aeonics.
2. Aeonics in general is lackluster (seems to be the case for a lot of Hallifax vs. Gaudiguch)
3. The only time you get to play 'Time Police' is when you fail at your job in the first place, which is what happens when temporal anomalies occur, rifts open and dominators flood the Basin. Basically, the only RP you're going to have is being blamed for failing at your job that you can't really execute mechanically from the start.
If you really want you can play up the whole KGB (or whatever it was) thing, but even then that will get cliched really quickly.
I don't know about the Templars - Gaudiguch seems culturally rich enough that the Templars can probably flourish, but that's totally up to them.

The difference in opinion here is that the collective "you" is looking at them as substitutes, where as I'm looking at them as suppliments.

Yeah, I don't see us being impacted too badly. At first we said, we'll guard the Vortex while we wait for the Illuminati to come back, handing back the keys to the castle and all, and take up our proper duty as the city's guards. We have enough for us to be happy, we're our own secret organization!

Nobody ever said they were substitutes. Of course they are supplements. Any monkey with his brains being eaten by a spork can figure that one out. That would be why we have also been saying don't take more from the pots than you absolutely need to test and try some things, that if you want more go get entities.
