Well, you can trade in the runes you get for logging in! So it's not really any different. Like when they give you free pipe/vial runes. I know I traded all mine in.

Except it isn't nice. It's handing out a truly garish, butt-ugly lamp you just know they found at the cheapest thrift-store downtown.

I think that's overly harsh and not true (and even if it was we should have the good grace not to say it.). We should be appreciative of getting free gifts instead of complaining that it sucks or isn't as good as other gifts. They don't have to hand out gifts at all...and I don't think comments like the above are going to make them want to.

It's like them giving you a (nice) motorcycle helmet. Sure, it's nice, and expensive, but if you don't ride a motorcycle/don't aetherbash/influence for XP/etc then it's less useful.

And the alternative is that we get nothing at all.

Packrat - 50 credits - a little mob that carries around all the special artifacts and items you're given. (So the gnomish boxes and the clover and stuff like that)

Alternately, I'd LOVE if there could be a display case manse artifact for that instead, but the fact that we've asked for that so many times and been ignored means that probably wont happen

Just as a note, I never was on the side of people who were like IT IS JUNK I HATE IT. I just feel that if I had the option of turning it in, I would. Because credits are more useful to me than temporary crits.

This. If I hunted so much that I wanted to go through everything quicker, and hunted big stuff, I'd want increased crits for a day, but I don't, and I honestly prefer credits to crits. Credits gain me new skills, which I'll always get uses out of, I don't hunt with others much, nor do I hunt things that have a chance of killing me on a regular basis. And I don't tend to hunt long, just little spurts of hunting, then back to idling until I feel the need to hunt again.

Yeah, but I don't think they are going to make a free minor artifact "refundable" since you didn't pay for it and it would end up being a economic negative for the game. Regardless if you buy credits with in-game gold or out-of-game cash, somebody somewhere paid money for the credit--but this would just be giving free credits to everybody who logged in for 21 days--not likely. It's one thing for contests and volunteer work to be rewarded, it's another thing for something like this.

the free pipe (50cr) and vial rune (40cr) can be traded in. I would say those are more valuable than the clover.

Those are standard artifacts. The clover would have to be specifically flagged.

Yes, but we have got them for logindays of the past. Yet you could trade those in for credits as normal.
