Sojiro:
A toy monkey - Similar to the previous, but it sends one pre-existing emote to the recipient, but a monkey will do it. Ex: A toy monkey resembling Shuyin scampers in from the ether. A toy monkey resembling Shuyin raises his hand towards you and says, "Hi!". No custom emotes, that seems too much and it will just lead to ranged mudsex.
Y'know, that just isn't my biggest worry with this idea.
As for the Holographic Greeting Card, we already have actionorigami, I get that it's different but I don't really see the point.
Expanding on that, though, if we could get, say... A holographic ooja-ma-flip dispenser, where you put a message on it and then it gives out an ooja-ma-flip which can play the message repeatedly, and you can have like ten in a day that'd be interesting/possibily useful.
My point being that it's an interesting idea but modelling it as a greeting card is a bit meh :P

I just ran out of things to call the idea. It's the idea, not the item that counts.
It's hard to think of things, you know.

Ship rune of power-ness - Once/twice/whatever a day allows you to instantly refresh the ships power from the reserves, does not work if the ship is being targetted or if it is targetting any other ship.
Essentially just for letting people flashpoint around quicker, or setting up shockwaves quicker for a hunt.
Bottle of fun - Once a month fills with one of the potions that Trader Bob has been selling.
Crossbow of love - Allows you to, once a day/meh, force someone to propose to another. Marriage/acceptance is of course not guarenteed. Only works on non-married people (until we get the rune of polygamy)
Maze of mirrors - Manse artifact, works like the mirror maze in the wayfaire, have to go in certain directions to get through.
Manse stake of MINE! - Allows you to forcefully remove someone from your manse, puts them back at the plex.
Try before you buy beast spawner - Once a year spawns a random beast with its inherants, fully grown and able to instantly be trained, beast lasts for one month before fading.

Colored flame powder: when you set someone else on fire, or are yourself set on fire, the initial message and tick messages will appear in a special color (I guess you could just have different versions of this artifact in red, blue, green, etc.)
Also, maybe custom perfumes?

AFAIK, the mirror maze is just a bunch of rooms that have looped entrances and look the same. It actually is a discrete series of rooms though. You can replicate the effect with a series of similarly named rooms and some very clever room link creation to make looping entrances! Throw in the stake of concealment if you want to make it even harder!

As unlikely as I would ever be to actually purchase such items, how about things that help the roleplayers who like to arpee the gross actually be gross.
Say, a clove of garlic dingbat artie (let's say, 5dbs) that, when eaten, permanently makes it so that when someone says something, it'd be followed up by a nasty modifier.
Ex: Exeryte says with sickening breath, "Mmm, poultry."
Or something along those lines, anyway (I didn't want to actually try writing, ick). Can even present different things, like a chunk of meat that causes folk to say things with a spray of spittle, or a hard boiled egg that gives some cloying odor. D:
A 5db toothbrush will counteract the nastiness of the above. I'd rather not have more things that make people try to look even prettier, so there's no buff to just getting the toothbrush yourself.

Mechanical crank - keeps musicboxes playing until you STOP CRANK, then they'll run their timer down naturally. Maybe have it work for pocketwatches too, but not a big deal.

Not sure if this has been suggested already: Arties to make using influence attacks on denizens possible that they're normally immune to (seduction on intimidating ones, charity on greedy ones etc.).
Could be either one arti for all of those together (I'd say ~1000 credits for that) or one for each (~250 credits each, although the charity one will probably be what most people will want).

Lust on guards and other powerful mobs...
Veyrzhul2012-05-26 06:09:17
Guards can only be influenced with weaken and empower, anyway; that has nothing to do with their mindset.
EDIT: And mobs that are altogether immune to influencing (aside from diplomacy) wouldn't be affected either, obviously.

Another idea:
An artifact for each type of damage that removes both resistances and weaknesses to that damage type, but only for bashing?
If this is too powerful, have the damage done by removing resistances also be halved.
Make it super whimsical, like a fire flower, which when in your inventory, all kinds of fire damage you do to a denizen will not take any of its resistances into account, but also doesn't make it weaker to the fire damage.
Should probably cost a lot though.

I like that idea.
Ssaliss2012-05-27 05:40:01
Having it remove the weakness/strength if it's in your inventory makes it easily togglable by putting it in a pack or similar when you're hitting weak enemies. Better just to make it a special rune that are attached to weapons/symbols/etc. Sure, plier-people can still do the above then, but meh.

If folk are still looking for more whimsical things, a pin that gives someone more Typecast choices would be neat.
Maybe different kinds of pins drawing from different themes. I'm still fond of things that helps promote the arpee ugly, so maybe a nasty pin for typecast messages like Grotesque and Leprous. Or maybe something gnomish or aetherbubble-appropriate (Sweet from Crumkindivia, maybe?). No idea. Would end up expanding the typecast fun to the non-demis too. Hooray.

Or if you want to expand on this, racial hats for things that aren't races. Could have things like Peep Soldier, Gingerbread (Wo)Man, etc.

A gnomish plotting board (like a sonar / radar board); when turned on, it pings and shows you the location of someone who's just died (basically, Deathsense enchantment, but with a gnomish dingbat twist and accompanying message!)
