All arties should be tappable to reset their repop time. Implement plz.
Asmodea2008-12-18 10:23:24
I wish it were possible to detach runes from items they are attached to to stick them on something else.

Since so many people were irked about giving scent away as a dingbat item, make a Laetitia dingbat item, which functions as if someone chants on you when you rub/touch/poke/squeeze/use it. Fair's fair! content.gif

Just to restate.

Bee hives - Produces one honeycomb a lusternian day/month.
Apple tree - Produces one apple a lusternian day/month.
Other fruit/vegetable things.

Now for something slightly the same. For recipes that call for certain animals or something...

A young merian tied to a post. Comes back like a normal NPC, but is killable so he can be used as food/comms for something.

Various animals and such in pens/cages/tied to poles. I hate having to run off into enemy territory for something when I only need one of them. It's not several, just one. To handle the easy recipes and designs. Like my mask. I need merian for my mask. But, rabbits, merian, krokani, and so on.

I still want a clipboard artifact that lets you write in a letter, scroll or book anywhere. Like a little portable desk.

Oh, and one that lets you seperate parts of your manse into different areas, so if you buy one of those archways, and want the sound of hooting owls and other woodland critters in the woodland part of it, you won't hear them somewhere in appropriate like the caves deep under the dormant volcano where you've carved your home (for example)
Aison2008-12-19 20:34:59
I second the clipboard artifact. That would be really nice to have. Only it'd be cooler as like, a writing tablet.

Ah, or something really authentic, the wax tablet.
Fania2008-12-19 21:24:24
Whichever...I want one!
Aison2008-12-19 21:24:30
censor.gif yeah that'd be cool.

This used to be the case until noobs (see: Amaru) exploited it to get out of combat or AFK on highways and such.

I'd like to respectfully agree with Aesyra and say that we should just get rid of Astral insanity altogether. Looking back, astral was HARDER without insanity. The only reason it changed was because noobs (see: Nejii+Serenwilde) incorrectly thought it was ruining the credit market (effectively disproved by Hajamin) and their constant, incessant whining about it (which to this day is the #1 way to push ANY change through) succeeded in "nerfing" astral.. buffing the mobs (which in turn made them be worth more xp) and providing an xp faucet. In FACT, even the NEW astral is a BETTER xp faucet for demigods. So all you really get is a mechanic that everyone hates making you unable to play the game for hours on end and utterly destroy whatever "fun" there is to be had in things like wildnodes and Ascendancy (see: last year's Ascendancy debacle). NO other IRE game does this, and neither should Lusternia. *support Kethuru tentacle*

Factual inaccuracies here:

Firstly, that wasn't the reason journals were nerfed - they persisted quite a while after Amaru. They were nerfed when Artisan came out and desks would have made no sense 'cause there's no reason for anyone to sit down when they can just write anywhere. (Also I don't think Amaru used it to get out of combat, just to afk with his defs still up, which Hajamin thought was a good reason to DF/something him. I may be wrong there though.)

Secondly, it was actually Magnagora (Alger and a couple others) that noticed Astral wrecking the credit market and drained it all (causing it to stop.) Then the admin nerfed it so he wouldn't have to.

EDIT so as not to continue derailing the thread:

QUOTE (Melanchthon @ Magnagoran at the time)
Who cares why this was done? In all honestly, whatever the motives, this may actually turn out good for the realm. I miss my favorite hunting ground, but it will come back for you just like it will for me...and if this actually does lower the credit prices, hoo-ray! I bashed 1 million gold in a single RL week before. If you want the honest reason everyone in the realm who can't do that too has to suffer through 7,000 gold credit prices...there is your reason, your root cause. It is Astral, spamming gold down upon the Basin from the coffers of its chosen elite.

QUOTE (Eiru)
OK, to everyone that is complaining, please take a step back and look at the BIG picture.
Why do you think our economy was so ... bad? I believe it is because of the endless supply of gold. Where did this gold come from? Astral.
50k in like 3 hours is no joke, it enables a single person to buy out all the credits on the market.
Now imagine how it is if there are even five hardcore bashers, wait, no need to imagine, just type CREDITS FOR SALE.
Also, who wants to have 8 titans and 3 demigods running around by the end of the year?
I love astral too, this really hurts me, but I understand the good impact it will have on our crazy unstable economy.

QUOTE (Kharvik @ Magnagoran at the time)
Sadly I see Eiru's point and think this was probably a necessary move. At the rate things were moving there could be numerous Titans within months; with how things are now and will probably remain, being a Titan will actually mean something since there wont be 20 others wandering around. Getting to Titan will actually be a challenge and the fact that I'll no longer be buying credits at 7k a piece with my abundance of astral gold and nor will other astral bashers will probably help the credit market get back to normal. Astral was too good, at level 95 I could get 30% a day which shouldnt be..

QUOTE (Alger)
Another way of looking at it is through the credit market. As you put it lusternian economy is about the credit market, which yes is sad, but thats what the failure of trade has resulted to. Because supplies are so cheap, bashers are able to horde most of their injected currency and buy out the credits, which becomes their main expenditure. Now the bashers, like yourself are able to accumulate credits and gold excessively but see the trader who does not bash(yes a lot of our players do not bash astral) is left in the dust. They barely make enough to cover for any additional fees like getting rid of enemy status' or fines, or paying for high base cost goods like weapons and armor what more to cover the credits that they also need to develop their character.

You say people are being selfish and greedy, but honestly... i think they're the ones who are thinking of others(ie the newer players who find it very hard to catchup) and not of themselves. Remember we're all astral bashers here... this hurts us as much as its hurting you really. Hell I couldnt even get power earlier, but who's crying about it?
Revan2008-12-20 02:45:58
Writing anywhere was stopped because of combat escape abuse. I remember it quite distinctly, and artisans were just coincidental. As for astral, Magnagora didn't care about astral being the way it was. It was mostly you and a few others doing all the whining and trying to disprove Hajamin's statements that Astral wasn't ruining the market. In anycase, insanity should be erased, thusly I support an artifact which erases all insanity, if even for only once a RL day.

Actually, that's why you've always needed full health, mana, and ego to enter the editor or news room.

Back in the early days of Glomdoring, Amaru was 'raiding' around the Putrefied Glen. People were chasing him. He suddenly disappeared off of Scent at "Entrance to the Putrefied Glen," but all his pets remained. He reappeared a bit after they died, still deffed.

It made a bit more sense when his journal got taken away, I always figured it was related (that happened maybe a week or so after? Think it was pretty close.)
Unknown2008-12-20 23:03:19
Okay...so put it back in as an Artifact? Artisans are happy because most people will just use a desk, and the people that use it will be happy because well, they can write when they want!

This makes me sad... no insults... no drama... concise, reasonable arguments...

When did these forums... change?
Morhgor2008-12-20 23:59:12
Manse artifacts that change the type of room.

Some examples:

Water Orb- the room is filled with water. (The sort you have to swim in.)
Forest Orb- Counts as outdoors, in a forest.
Desert Orb- Counts as outdoors, in a desert ('nari, yay?)
Road Orb- Counts as outdoors, on a road. (Statues!)
Plains Orb- Counts as outdoors.
Wastelands Orb- Counts as outdoors, in taint.

And so on... Just a random thought, really.
Unknown2008-12-21 02:21:45
lol 50k in 3 hours? I'd cry if it took me that long.

This is false. It was actually Diamante and I talking to Hajamin about how easy Astral was to sit on and auto bash and he told us to prove it and he would watch for a while and so we did, sitting on Astral 16 hours a day, only stepping off long enough to offer vast amounts of essence to him before going back to perma link on the node and do nothing but let auto bashing do its job. Eventually Hajamin agreed that it was far to easy and told us there would be some big changes. Voila, we have insanity.
Morhgor2008-12-21 08:02:11
So... is the astral Hijack about done? Or maybe it should be moved to it's own thread, nudge, nudge.
