Who else has a chisel besides me, anyway?
Dunno, it doesn't seem to show up with HELP CHISEL. Unlike most artifacts.
I know I won't buy an artifact if it does not say somewhere what it does!
Xiel2009-12-17 23:04:24
Last I recall, Rika was the other purchaser of the chisel. And I wouldn't mind if that thing got offered to the general public and made up to whack at statues instantaneously either rather than just cutting the time down.

That's not a bad idea, so long as it takes out totems too.
Xiel2009-12-18 03:06:06
Cheaper, actually. They're called axes.

Just let it work on unenchanted statues (since that's what takes time, the enchanting).
It's kind of weird that building a statue is instant but destroying it takes time. Should be instantly destroyable if not enchanted, and then say that the enchanting strengthens it so it takes the current time.
Shaddus2009-12-18 03:23:42
that's not a bad idea, but then the same should be applicable to totems. I don't think you want Ixion running around Prime Glom dropping your unbonded totems.

I'm not sure why the same would be applicable to totems, as totems take RL days to grow (and that's the issue when they're chopped, regardless what some of you seem to think, heh). A statue takes 1 action to put up, totems take days of work and guarding.
You already have the ability to chop 'em with 2 moves when they revert, you don't even have to spend minutes undoing each one.
Just let us break down unenchanted statues with one move and all is good, it doesn't need to apply to carved totems. Because, well, it's not the same as a statue!

Totems also consistantly add power, at little cost. They are a by-product of your power quest, and besides that have very little cost. Ten power to carve one, and they add how much power?

They provide 10p a day (and revert every 12 days), but it's seriously not about the power-- since we'd get more by leaving up 3 enormous trees in every room versus 1 Totem (each stage of them provides power, and each tree that is growing provides power, so chopping them doesn't actually really deny any power, heh).
The issue is the time and frustration in regrowing the bloody things.

How long does enchanting a statue take, anyway? I just know it is supposed to be a pain.
With totems vs. statues it is time waiting (where you can be bashing or raiding or whatever) vs. time doing (where you can't do anything else). So, while you have to wait for totems to grow back, you have to take quite a bit of time enchanting to statue which as far as I understand is a pain.

I believe that is why he said -unenchanted- statues.

Yes, but many of the other people in the thread were arguing for enchanted statues.

Magic Kettle artifact!
It lets you make alcohol, tea, and other such drinks in batches of up to 10, filling the kettle. The kettle can then be poured into a keg, similar to filling a keg from the alembic. Let's you speed up your alcohol, and get artifact keg perks.
Because making tea kegs sucks.

Inevitably, we need two new analogues to the pearl and bloodstone rings, perhaps opal and ruby.

Oooor we can buff pearl and bloodstone by adding air waves to pearl and fire waves to bloodstone.
I vote for my option.

Oooor we can make the Brooch of the Tempest actually work to block tempests. Woo!

I vote for upgrades over new artifacts, of course.

^what they said. Buffs to the pearl/bloodstone rings already in existence or the brooch of the tempest, please.
