Which would be why I mentioned that it was a small amount that was produced.
That said, the farm is the only thing that produces a commodity of any sort that couldn't have been produced by the action taken anyway.

Objection! That's rockeater abuse! What if someone sticks Mogwog in there?

There is no meaningful sense in which a manse is any less real than any other aetherbubble. In fact, there's no significant difference between the aetherbubbles called "Scorpio" and "The Prime Material Plane", the ones called "Cankermore" and "Moonhart Nexus World", and the ones we build, except for the (huge) differences in size. Each is a self-contained bubble in aetherspace which serves as a world. Even the "indoor only" limitation of manses (which we all know is really an artificial coded limitation) is justified simply because of the difference in size. That difference in size can certainly justify a limitation on the viability of crops, of course, but it's not because a manse is really a different kind of creature.
The indoor-only limitation conveniently disappears with a manse artifact! Admittedly you could spend quite a lot on the billowing winds miniature if your manse is large and you want everything outdoors.

There is, actually. Aetherbubbles cannot support herb growth, or Mucklemarsh can't, at least. Someone once tried planting myrtle there and it all died off before they could even leave.
Though, on the other hand, flowers can already grow just fine in a manse.
Lendren2010-01-25 13:18:54
There are many environments that can't support herb growth in many places, even Prime.

Except that it was (as far as I am aware) planted in the swamplands on Mucklemarsh, which is... well... almost entirely all swampland.
Which is where myrtle likes to grow, usually.

I dunno, then, bug it?

Gnomish Umbrella (75 dingbats): Whenever you open it, it rains, and everyone else gets wet. (Effect: same as Nature Rain, except the person who opened it doesn't get cleaned if they're stinky.) Note: only cleans skunking off rooms and people, and puts out fires in the room; doesn't also clean ecto or mud or anything else Nature Rain may or may not clean.

Aether Manse Security Gem (50cr): When activated in a room, ensures that doors adjoining that room close after being passed through. Just like a permanent key sigil, except that it's a room property like the other manse gems, not an object like key sigils; and thus, it isn't visible (cluttering up your pretty room) and it doesn't take up space in the objects database.

Yes. I'd go for a monolith room flag too.

I wouldn't support this as I occasionally get lost on manses and have to glance to make sure I don't get trapped behind a reinforced door, if it was invisible... Well that'd just be unfair.
Lendren2010-02-11 13:41:50
...You're sneaking around in manses through doors that you don't have permissions to, and you want the game to preserve your ability to do it?
Unknown2010-02-11 16:38:51
Lots of manse owners set perms for doors and then never bother to close them, or log out inside so that their key sigil never gets triggered. Then you get people stuck behind doors in semi-private manses issuing themselves with desperate pleas for freedom.
For the going price of 50 credits you could afford a lifetime supply of sigils. Buy yourself a pair of jeans or something.

I'd buy it... to keep folks like Lawliet and Azoth from lurking about (in my whopping TWO ROOM manse).
Sylphas2010-02-11 17:11:02
I'd buy it, set the door only to open for me, then laugh when people got stuck. I think I managed to snag Nejii once, it was good times.

It's not the cost of the sigils, or even the hassle of having to remember to do it regularly (though that's a factor), it's the sigil uglying up the room description and cluttering up the objects database. Sorry, your reasons against are actually reasons for this.

Every time this has been proposed it's been shouted down with "but that would make bookbinding pointless", and while that horse may have most of its body out of the barn, this version of the proposal is intended to avoid that criticism.
Great Rune Of The Changeling's Tongue (500cr): Can only be attached to a cameo of the changeling. Allows knowledge of languages to carry across bodies. (That is, lets you speak and understand any racial language you could understand by changing shape, without having to change shape.)
Alternately, make the changeling cameo a two-level artifact the way the prism and cubix are, with the option to upgrade, and make the second level include this functionality. (Same thing, just slightly different implementation.)
