Possible, but they can't actually make the heads themselves. They've got absolutely no way to do it.
It's pretty limited unless the BEHEAD CORPSE gets moved out of tracking, really, and I'm not so sure that's a great idea because of masks. The heads / masks were made to decay for a reason.
Hm.

That's why this artie would be great for them. They could access heads at will once they get them.
I sell/give heads regularly to ninjas for masks. It opens trade up more in this way as well. I really think this artifact would be truly cool- I hate exhibiting heads in my trophy room only to have them decay.

Slivven Innoculation Module: Attach to aethercraft like any other module. While attached, slivvens have a lower chance to spawn/lose aeon/lose lifedrain/are otherwise made less irritating.
Plush Mitran Doll: Pull the string on the back, and it'll spew noxious-smelling fluid all over, just like a real mitran! Skunks a room.
Lucidian Zodiac Ring: TURN RING to learn your Sun sign, how various Astrology rays will affect you, and a helpful (sort of) bit of advice for the near future.
Astral Zodiac Ring: As above, but... you get your Astral sign instead, and the advice is significantly more worrying.
Gaudi Spectacle Backpack: Non-decay backpack, that you can PULL to prime the Pyromantic magics within. While active, your entrances into zones will be heralded by a pyrotechnic display that nobody in the area will be able to miss.

Yet what I'm saying is that they wouldn't actually be able to get the heads themselves... they would still have to fully rely on someone else to harvest the things. You know, just like what you're saying here.
I'm saying this as a person who regularly gives the heads I make to Nekotai too, so I'm aware how much they appreciate them. At the same time, look at it from the other side; there was a market for heads, there was a reason for selling them, and they were made to decay simply so that they can't be kept around forever (there's a time limit in how long you can pretend to be someone without actually going and getting a new kill).
On the whole, I think it is preferable that way.

Fair enough, thanks for making the argument against it. I personally would, in a heartbeat, give up any head trade revenue for the a kickass headed necklace.

EDIT: Ninja'd by Ixion!
Ixion2010-05-11 02:43:57
Okay fine. Make the phasing of heads only work for trophied heads which would disallow NJ/NK from being able to use them. Everyone wins, no drawbacks.

Heh, I imagine a lot would. It honestly would be neat, I just wanted to point out some of my concerns!

I'll only be cool with that if we make head-trophies/severed heads in general impossible to flame-sigil. No more spammy piles of dozens of trophies on any given nexus, please.

That's needed with or without a new cool artifact.

It's been less of an issue recently since the decay times have conveniently curtailed stockpiling options. This would shift things around very quickly. But true enough.

Gnomish Rayguns!

Which would do what, now..?
Scintilating Medallion
This fine medallion is crafted by the fine upstanding barkers at the Czigany Wayfaire to hold the attention of those being bilked. Er, barked. When wearing this medallion, your prestige will never fall below well-to do, though it can go higher, with the right clothing. If both this and the scarecrow hat are worn at the same time, the Medallion is revealed to be nothing but cheap costume jewelry, and thus does not impact your prestige at all.

Well, I went through previous posts and pulled some ideas but I may have missed some or skipped ones that you think warrant a second glace, so please feel free to summarize previous ideas if you feel motivated!
I just wanted to highlight this one for its whimsical quality:
Gnomish Umbrella (75 dingbats): Whenever you open it, it rains, and everyone else gets wet. (Effect: same as Nature Rain, except the person who opened it doesn't get cleaned if they're stinky.) Note: only cleans skunking off rooms and people, and puts out fires in the room; doesn't also clean ecto or mud or anything else Nature Rain may or may not clean.

I wouldn't mind the addition of more transplanar contrivances. In particular, I am thinking ones that would lead to the first room within a god realm. Not sure that the value of these would be 300 dingbats though given the bubbles one save a lot more time and effort.

I'd prefer to see this as an ability for the order, instead of letting people raid more easily. But I'd probably get a Maylea realmbix if they were cheap enough.

Some rather old ideas of my own and of others that I really liked!
Vanity Mirror - primp up to get longer/faster/cheaper amnesty/parley.
Sewing Kit - mend your own clothes, works for the owner only. Exclusively allows the mending of containers too (packs etc).
Easel - make custom paintings with it without having to tweak your manse. Perhaps a manse artifact.
Claramorre Perfume Bottle - spawns fills of one type of perfume oil a month.
Perfect Perfume - can be used once a month to give yourself the effect of all four perfume oils at once, lasts twice as long as regular perfume and has its own appearance and room line.
Whip of the Dracnari Beastmaster - allows you to train your beast to do some funny tricks like roll or play dead (could be dependant on mount type).
Dreamweaver's Stone - allows you to send madeup dreams to nearby nappers. Like Dreamweaving Hallucinations.
Soothing Censor - If placed in a room and lit, the censor will periodically create an ambient message pertaining to the scent of the herb being smoked.
Venomous Ring - The ability to deliver a venom whenever you punch someone! Spawns a random poison every month which you can pour out of it into a vial too.
Linguists Manual - allows you to speak languages other than your racial language. Perhaps allows reading of texts in different languages too but you can only choose one language for such proficiency and changing it takes a whole IG year.
Antediluvian Deck - a deck of ancient Tarot cards, those before influence of the Vernal Gods. Could spawn 3-5 different cards a month, untradable, always to stay in the deck. Could only fling them at self/someone out of it. Pranky and fun, for example, Warrior could spawn a ghost to fight you/target, Hangedman would make ropes burst and try to strangle someone, or turn into snakes and chase people. The names could be changed entirely.
Sacrosanct Prayer Beads (stolen from above and tweaked!) - like the Symbol of the Gods (I think) changes according to the Divine one follows and allows to PRAY FOR PASSAGE to be taken to the room with the entrance to one's Patron's God Realm after 10 seconds or more.

Hmm... what about geomancers?
If a Geomancer has it, then it decreases the eq behind them casting the stonewall OR it will allow them to destroy stonewalls faster with that ability they have.
EDIT: Though really. They might not need to see any extra benefit from it. It's not like I get any benefit from owning a pig snout since I already have Scent, for example. Runeguards and Wytches didn't get any benefit for the Stone Idol as Runists besides the fact that it wouldn't cost them inks to raise the Stonewall.

In regards to the latter half of that: no. Fountains already do this; we don't need more artifacts to effectively replace the need for any poisonists ever.

Some sort of artifact beast leash that keeps them always following you, so you don't get separated through forced movements like pits, gust, treebane, etc.
