Or, a necklace that allows bookbinders to retrain their languages! Cause, with Tully never around, my dwarven is getting really rusty...

I think an artifact that allows you to access the shoprift from anywhere would be nice, but I can't get it to work as a full idea

I demand a shouting horn, so that I might continually shout my inane, babbling rants at the Basin.

Only if I can get a mute button!

- Rift expansions.
- Godbixes.
- Customization permits. I hate sending in a request and just holding on to 50cr. I'd love to buy a ticket for one so I can't accidentally spend them or something while I'm waiting. Also would let you throw in a way to submit in game instead of via email, if you want.
- Wall wands as normal arties (Fire, Ice, Krellan's Airwall idea).
- Actually a wand that could produce any type of wall would be neat. (POINT WAND NE BRIARS/FIRE/ICE/etc) Dunno how OP it would be though. Briars are damned annoying, or stonewalls.
- Free/cheap/more often skillflex would be lovely. Even if the credits for the artifact could pay for flexing dozens of times, I'd feel better knowing I could do it when I wanted and not have to scrounge up the lessons each time or keep a stash.
- Various glamours abilities in arti form. Probably OP, but I love that skill SO MUCH. Simple illusions on a long ass balance would be more than acceptable to me.

How about an artifact that lets you bypass negative affinity aspects?
Krellan2010-07-07 01:23:03
I actually don't believe stat artifacts would be too bad. The one exception might be like constitution.
There has been a lot of trial and error with stats, their diminishing returns on effectiveness for each higher stat point, and damage scaling. Not only that, stats are just about impossible to hit that +7 buff and get the full +5 boost without multiple truefavors and those do not last forever. Only charisma is really even reliably possible. Other stats can come close with karma blessings and a herofete. It's possible to reach the +7 buff with a chaos blessing as well, but that is random and for one day.
In short, all the stats can fairly easily reach +5 buff points. So really, what's +1 in another stat going to hurt? Not too much at all. No opinion on having them, just stating that I don't believe it would have any significant impacts on game balance.
It might even bring in a fair number of credit bits and/or purchases, even if it were just stat buff points as opposed to racial stat increases. All it would do is help people reach their hardcap set upon them by the mechanics of the game.

I'd be more than fine with a Fortuna artifact, or a Fortuna artifact that skipped size, or one that was +1 to a certain stat (weighted) per day, or even one that was base racial stats, or one that was +1 weighted. Anything else I'm really, really wary of.
Razenth2010-07-07 01:25:03
Well, if they do decide to do it, I hope they test it out first, maybe, by offering temporary 1 weight buffs every once in a while. Once you let the genie out of the bottle....

You make two wishes and then wish him back into the bottle, everyone knows that.

Muzzle of Listening: 150 credits
Muzzle your pet so that it will listen to you and others! Pet can hear conversations like the tracking skill Bond Listen.
Perhaps have it work only on custom pets, as I don't want it to ruin Tracking RP/Utility. But it's pretty lame my pet can't do that since he can talk and send me tells.
Aetheric Manual of Combat|Empathing|Piloting: 25 or 50 credits
Grants you 100% in X's proficiency. One time use.

Ok so you need +8 to reach the cap. Point is there is a cap for a reason. I can understand being wary of straight up base stat increase. But buff points, I don't care about just cause there is a cap. I mean just looking at myself. I've got +5 strength buff, +5 int, +5 cha, +3 dexterity, +6 constitution.
I'm actually capable of maxing out my charisma without a domoth blessing. The domoth blessing for chaos is +3. So with it, I can actually max out every stat but dexterity. These aren't counting a herofete, but it does count platters for dexterity and constitution.
Also, I'd get that muzzle Sahmiam offered as an idea. I already tried getting a pet reaction to work that way and got denied though.

No name yet, but similar to the Gauntlets of Dragon Breath:
POINT-
-Will freeze all players in that direction. (so first strips fire, second gives shivering, third hit gives chills) will also cast a blizzard in that direction.
This will probably be kind of a dead end artifact like the dragon breath, but people do like unique trinkets that no one else has.

I can already picture Glom's synchronized freezing squad

Oh, I am not sure if you've considered this, but it might be worthwhile to bring back retired dingbat items that people have been begging for on the forums. Obviously not permanently, but let's say an auction, I'm sure that'd be fun.
Krellan2010-07-07 01:57:13
Tranplanar device similar to the Dingbat Torus, maybe with less saved points.
Takes you to a personal limbo room, has NO access to higher planar fulcrux. Can save X amount of rooms only at locations on unknown planes of existence.
Also, you might want to look in the dingbat artifact idea thread. If some of those suggestions don't fit the theme of dingbats artifacts as Eventru said, they may be more appropriate for artifacts i.e. Thong of Carcer, Shard of Icelord, etc.

Silver scouring pad - lets you remove crafter's marks from crafted jewelry/clothes/etc.
(To be honest, I think that it should be the other way around, that items by definition have no crafting mark, and you can have some kind of artifact stamp to make people know that you made this particular item).

one time use artifact that allows you to remove the curse from a cursed item (one which you can never remove via enchantment)
Unknown2010-07-07 02:42:32
An artifact that lets you permanently look like one race no matter what you may reincarnate into.
