But... you see, it negates itself, because it requires no one to be present, but the user is present, therefore it will not work. See? Balanced!
Lendren2011-03-21 01:47:16
I did say "other"...
Kiradawea2011-03-21 02:29:59
Oh shush. It made fun to my tired mind.

Yikes... Take a nap already.

A lot of prep work goes into those, and I think you'd be surprised how often it'd get used on a bubble. Especially if the timer is one minute. A 10 minute timer would be too short in my opinion, but that would defeat the purpose of the artifact.
Lendren2011-03-21 10:22:32
Yes, but if you've got that much time to do the prep on a bubble with not a single other person there, you're going to do it anyway. It's not actually going to change that at all. (Besides which, you're probably going to be melding more than truegrounding.)
Kiradawea2011-03-21 10:32:54
Since it's truegrounding and not force-elementaling I really don't see much trouble in it. If you want to be able to meld the area for yourself, you wouldn't use it and instead go around growing ethereal forests to cover the taint or something.

Nope.
Since it costs only 10p, you use it to remove all of the other side's terraining in one go. Then you go around and meld the area for yourself, secure in the knowledge that you are now 'ahead' (instead of the current situation where you have to remove ALL of the other side's terrain room by room in order to keep them from having an easy time raising a counter meld for 0p in the middle of the fight).
You would definitely use it prior to melding yourself.

For this upcoming auction, I think that this would be popular (or, at least, I'd adore it):
-a permanent rune/mote/tarot card that once bought, the individual chooses what it'll be (unless the admin will really consider auctioning off one of each type rather than the player choosing what they'd value more). This would be so that I wouldn't have to keep refreshing my stocks of hangedmans/rads/memorylosses or whatever else is spammed a lot and just have one artifact for them.
No idea how it'll react with being embedded, but to cut down the problems, just don't let the arties be embedded since you can just use normal ones for that. The main purpose would be for the single use anyway and not having to worry about running out of x-rune/tarot/mote.

Oh! How about something that allows those who have highmagic/lowmagic to still take on trade skills of the opposite. Something like this:
Trademaster's Degree
READ DEGREE
Through extensive research and studying, you will have mastered the usage of all tradeskills, allowing those restricted by choice of Highmagic or Lowmagic to choose tradeskills not usually open to them.
I would totally pay for this!

I'd love to see something akin to the old D&D "Wand of Wonder", where a random thing would happen, either positive or negative. Maybe something like:
5% chance of a catastrophic event. (Like your whole squad dies and it goes through all quick-res stuff)
15% chance of a strong backfire.
15% chance of a minor backfire
30% chance of a neutral effect (either benefits to allies and enemies, weakness to allies/enemies, or some random emote).
15% chance of a weak-normal attack/defense
15% chance of a strong attack/beneficial effect.
5% chance of a overwhelming defense/attack (Like the old Thunderclap)

I'm sure Enyalida would love infinite memory loss mote.

Paradigmatics' Butterfly trans skill does this already.
And I, too, would like an infinite memoryloss mote.
Unknown2011-03-22 22:55:57
Yeah, but I'm sure butterfly is limited. And the artifact could have a lot strong and/or more varied effects.

And since we're dealing with auctions now (and I am too lazy to start another thread), how about these ideas and one especially dandy one from Ragniliff?
-a section in the auctions for gold bids. Just for tiny things like an item customization or another custom emote.
-(from Raggy) a special customization to change the dingbat nose use message. No more inelegant snorting!

Sylphas2011-03-22 23:45:52
Or the ability to scent without a message. (I'm still not sure why noses have a custom message but keystones don't. )
Lendren2011-03-23 00:17:39
An artifact that lets you block a special exit (something you have to ENTER). It would also require people to start being able to tumble/roll/somersault/leap their way past that block.
Unknown2011-03-23 00:21:27
I'm torn. If I suggest something I really want, and then they make it, then I'll feel bad because I want to buy some of the shineys that were just released to we in the forever abused and trampled Lusternian proletariat.
That said-
Arti that lets me cone.
Arti that reduces power cost of trueground to 0.
Arti that wipes you off personal enemy lists using bal/eq.
I want to add in an arti that would let monk/knight bookbinders actually use the trans skill book. But it would seem so incredibly specific. And weird. Extra-arm?
Beast artifact that lets it seek/unite, same restrictions as collar of dracnari beastmasters.
The other Beast related artifacts that Shuyin brought up earlier- arties that aim to make riding the damn things actually viable for something other than looking fancy before someone knocks your butt off the thing. Stuff like:
-eliminating balance cost of vault, allowing it to be done off balance
-arti that keeps you from being knocked out of the saddle
-other stuff Shuyin said.

I'm pretty sure they already changed it so that magic tomes work without being wielded.
Xiel2011-03-23 00:37:33
If we're listing off actual skill copies, I'd want my own yank, but I don't think that'd ever happen, so I shall continue to toss up more utility and fun things!
-a music box that would crank out a custom tune that has to go through the mortal review system each time they want something new so that people can't sneak by a combat illusion for something that's supposed to be flavourful and fun!
