Do Illuminati Gauntlets (And the Hallifaxian equivilent) count as guardian symbols for what runes you can attach? I'd like to get my shielding/enchanting on, but I really don't want to buy those only to find it won't work.

I think our wands are the equivalent... which is going to make me feel like a sissy. sad.gif However, if I could get a rune and customize said wand, I might feel slightly better.

Pff, wands are badass. If you get an emerald one you can shout AVADA KEDAVRA whenever you point it at someone.

Quick, semi-related question. Does the Gauntlet-based attack (Claw/Crush) use Strength instead of Intelligence? Or is it still an Int attack?
Genos2010-06-27 17:40:56
The damage source is Brute which I'm pretty means it relies on Strength. They should change the crush to a projectile bone spike attack or at least show the Gauntlets working.
Veyrzhul2010-06-27 19:02:14
The heavy blunt attack relies on strength, yes. Is it really that bad against mobs, though? Meir did 450 damage (without gauntlets, so only blunt damage) to me while I was in full plate, that's way more than knight bashing weapons do. Not sure if that tells alot about their damage to mobs, but I thought it might be fairly good.

That's really low compared to guardian bashing... are gauntlets as fast as warrior bashing weps?

Yes, artifact guardian runes should work for gauntlets and wands.

Another question: Do the Claw/Crush attacks use Balance? If so, does that mean Pentangle doesn't help them even though they are counting essentially as symbols?

Hexangle and Pentangle don't work on them, unfortunately.

Sounds like a bug. If one hasn't been filed, do so!

Edit: I mean, I can't promise they SHOULD, but my logical deduction is that they should. cool.gif

Yeap, bugged that already.

Eh, it's -blunt- damage against full plate, I wouldn't call that low. Remember normal guardians do magical damage. And mobs don't have resistances/protection to damage types, so I'd personally recommend trying the attack on mobs first and then judging if it is good or bad.

Cosmicfire hits me for more as a robes wearer with lvl 3 magic resist and Fabled Lowmagic. Unless vulnerabilities are worth a lot more than resistances, Crush just really isn't that great.

Not only is cosmicfire 50% fire damage (aside from 50% magic), you also underestimate the protection of armour (in my case full plate with forging runes) against physical damage. You simply don't get that kind of protection against elemental/magical/poison/anynonphysical damage. The crush should really be considered a hunting tool and be tested as such.

Besides that, guardians aren't really known for damage kills. Why would you punch someone as a guardian in order to try and kill them anyway?

For censor.gif and giggles.

I think we also have one less instakill total than other guardians though.
