Magic damage runes affect mob combat? For some reason I figured they wouldn't.

Sounds like the reason to me then. If the additional damage from Gauntlets is strictly separated like that and applied only against adventurers as opposed to denizens as well, Gauntlets won't be helping your bashing. I think that that'd make for a good report though.
Edit: And magic damage runes affect damage output from skills that're deemed to have a magical source. It's why I started poking about the damage source/types in regards to the AB's to get them added, it helps to know what skills would benefit from having the artie.

Sounds like a bug, if the +damage part isn't hitting denizens.

Gauntlets enhance damage, -and- if of the same kind as your path they have a bonus damage type.
There are two different things there.
QUOTE
The gauntlets will fit over your wrists and enhance the damage of hand attacks (claw and crush only). However, if you are walking on a pathway, the gauntlets you summon will be specialized for that pathway with an additional bonus (magical damage source):
Seperated the two one with bold and one with italic for easy clarification

Funky. Wonder if that differentiation means that you can summon Gauntlets without having chosen a Pathway. Not that most people wouldn't choose a Pathway on the get-go, but I'm curious now. -ponder-
And, with that cleared up, sounds to me like my reasoning's back to square one, so no help there. Woe.

Best solution for gauntlets in my opinion could be to either have them amplify the damage that CosmicFire does by wearing them, or changing their attack to magical instead of Brute (I'm all for originality, but it really doesn't make sense for a Guardian guild). Plus they really need some sort of solution for artifact runes and so forth. (I.E. a wieldable item)

I lol at the fact that the specced race for Illuminati takes a -nerf- to its attack, because the attack is based on strength.
