Switching e-mail clients

Right now, I'm using MS Outlook on one computer, that's about to be retired. I figured I might as well move to MS Live Mail on the new computer, but here's the kink: I've got the passwords to most of my e-mail accounts, or can at least get them easilly enough. However, there is one e-mail account that I can't get the password for, nor get a new one, since that account isn't supposed to even work (it was through my old ISP, and I switched a little over a year ago *cough*). So, the question I'm expecting I'll get a resounding "lolno" to: Can I just move the accounts, passwords and all, between the clients somehow (seeing how Live is, essentially, an upgraded Outlook)?

You can reregister if that's what you're looking for.

You'd have to find a way to retrieve the password from Outlook. Might be able to do that with some more "obscure" tools. I'll let you find those yourself though, if only because that'd probably break forum policy to link them. You'll probably find them on shady sites so be sure to have your computer security in check.

You could also always contact your old ISP, but the risk is then they will shut down your account completely. Then again, you shouldn't be using it anymore anyway, if only because your ISP might find out at some point and disable it. Or find some way to give you problems for still using it.

Oh. I feel like an idiot, I didn't read the whole post. Carry on.

Ok, first off.. is it Outlook, or Outlook Express? If it's outlook express, install windows live mail on the old computer (It will install on XP). Windows Live Mail will automatically import the settings from OE, then you can export the information in windows live mail on that computer, and move it to the new one. Then import it into WLM there.

I haven't done this myself.. so YMMV, but it's been mentioned in many places I can find on the net.
