There's no such thing as a good org in Lusternia. People who think they're the good guys need to take a walk around their city and really pay attention to what they're reading and so on. That's one of the best things about Lusternia, to me. It's all grey areas. There's good guys who are are morally bankrupt, bad guy who are completely ethical.
And I smile and laugh all the time when I play Noola. No one yells at me about it. Course, I'm not in any positions of power there, that might be why.

Gaudi needs more Templars since they all left for Illuminati. Help Akui and Mieari out!
Hey, I need far more guild members then they do. I have a lot more going for me in the 'I'm in a guild by myself' department.
Also, Hallifax is so not evil.
Likely just emotionless.
Like robots.
Well, maybe a few things make us evil.
I heard of some depravities, but it was for science.
Like the fifth Air Lord...
Like the Viscanti kids for that one quest as well...
But we're totally not evil.
Of course we're not evil.
Well, if you disagree, I will kill you and write you out of history.
No, of course I didn't hide any messages in the rest of my post.
Always remember to define your evil and what you want out of good.

Ongaku really hates that he feels pressured to act so imperial all the time. He wants to be himself, which is just a happy, fun-loving skunk who happens to love dirt and think the God of Eating People is the most awesome. As it is though, if he's not being a hardass, he's probably going to get in trouble for it.

Awww, Winnae. I love him so.
I can't say that the politics in Gaudi is any more/less "calm" than Mag (what with the last Duke election being riddled with shrubs and accusations of bribery), I'd think Winnae could fit in here, or... not fit in, whichever he likes more. And I'm biased because I want him to not be elsewhere. :<
Plus, the whole Freedom thing is amazing in so many (irresponsible) ways. ^^

I don't think Hallifax is really racist. There's factions in it that are racist, but how I play it at least, is that Hallifax would more want to assimilate than discriminate.

That's how you're playing your character, sure. But the city itself? They have a caste system and certain people aren't even allowed on certain levels of the city.

Yeah but that's not racism, that's the caste system.

Technically, race is not of importance in Hallifax, not in the Caste system neither.
That does not stop Hallifax from being an authoritarian fascist state with little to no freedom for the individual.
Just because they are not racist does not mean they are not evil, anyways

I've been a little stunned and put off by the vitriol and anger that seems to be involved with and created by politics in Lusternia.
Long story short, because I am not trying to rehash all the in-game arguments Winnae had with ur'Guard members about disposing with exclusionary/elitist policies vs. the phenomenon of Magnagora being outnumbered. Perseverance and me taking a trip to Japan has created a clear winner in that struggle.
I went on vacation, came back, and the people who opposed my ideas are trying to get Winnae outguilded from the ur'Guard. This doesn't bother me too much, but I wonder, if I moved Winnae to a different org, is it the same everywhere?

Yes it pretty much is. I have a more cynical perspective than most, but the issue is not with a particular in game organization, but instead its with the people who decide to play MUDs who are interested in exploiting their power over others. These individuals have the right mix of insecurity and immaturity to be annoying.
If you want to be left alone in an organization you are going to have to cultivate the appropriate skills (combat or otherwise) so that these individuals fear you or at least know with certainty that if they prosecute certain actions they will endure a tangible loss. Once you have these skills you will have to use them because these individuals often don't understand any language other than force.
In addition to this is the OOC metagaming. It will occur, and there is little the administration can do about it even if they are presented with full logs of IM conversations with timestamps. Having an idea of whom you are talking about and their history, it is likely happening against you. In the worse cases (which is rare) this can escalate to individuals attempting to hack into your lusternia account, email associated with your account , etc.. In these cases I'd recommend documenting everything and if you have the resources and desire, use avenues outside lusternia to rectify the situation.
So the real question is, do you want to/have the time and effort to develop the appropriate skills.

I don't mean that I want to be in a leadership position, but I don't want to be in a place where the people are always arguing with or treating each other poorly, for any reason. All I expect is that everyone treats everyone else with respect, regardless of guild/city rank. Is that too much to ask?
I want to clarify that this situation is not restricted to lusternia. I think it is endemic to MUDs based on the players they attract.
At the moment I think Gaudiguch, parts of Hallifax and Glomdoring suffer the least from this problem. You might want to try them.
Once certain individuals were elected you should have expected this to occur based on your previous success. Some people think their own failures of personality are an insult to their manhood. Small minds.

The vitriol gets bad enough that people will actually try to hack into Lusternia/e-mail accounts? o_o That's pretty disturbing. *makes sure to be much less happy in Mag from now on*

The bottom line is that politics, anywhere, will cause you to have an allergic reaction to the game. Headaches, nausea, indescribable irritation... it's all just part of the bargain because you're dealing with people who WILL disagree with you. If you're not in an organization where cutting throats is an acceptable solution to the incessant bickering (ie Magnagora), then you have to be more clever with your words. Glomdoring is all about rhetoric and who can be the bigger, scarier bad in the Court. Celest is full of zealots who preach the laws and ethics and morals of the Light from the Star Council at each other.
When you strip away all of those layers, though, it's still just people arguing, hosting coups and struggling to gain--and more importantly, MAINTAIN--power.
Cue the national anthem of any country anywhere ever.
