Bug #12449 Resolution: Your bug report has been reviewed and is not considered a bug. If you feel it is a game balance concern, you should speak to your guild envoy.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------
Still can't etch hexangle/pentangle on gauntlets, even after the announce post saying you can. Attempted both skills on Gauntlets of Gnosis without success.
-------------
I'm still not able to etch gauntlets with neither pentangle or hexangle. I get the error message about only being able to use etchings on mage staffs or guardian symbols. Someone suggested this might be a bug with already holding a pathway affecting the ability to etch.

...which one is it?

Bug #12505 Status: Classified
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------
ETCH PENTANGLE and ETCH HEXANGLE from the Spellcraft skillset does not work on
my Harmonics Crystal Wand (beryl #83179) and it did not work on Yiro's amethyst
wand. The last bug report I submitted was eventually resolved as fixed, but it
is still not working. The spellcraft AB files are also not updated to show that
it is possible.
-------------
I am unable to etch Xedrik's symbol with hexangle or pentagle for some reason.
The message says, You may only etch this on mage staves and guardian symbols or
items. The ink is full. Putting my staff into my pack did not affect it either.
-------------
Still unable to etch pentangles and hexangles on Institute wands, despite the
announcement saying they can be.

Something weird must be going on. They'll probably get is sorted out soon.

I'm just confused, because I got an announce post saying it should be doable, and then I'm being told it's not a bug that it doesn't work, it's a balance issue. I don't see how both those scenario's can be true.

Probably not yet implimented

They've never to my knowledge announced a bug fix that wasn't implemented right before the announce or right after. The announce was 7 days ago.
Furien2010-07-06 02:16:34
That's the default 'it's not a bug' message, so they probably don't actually want you to go to the Envoys with it, there's just crossed wires.

:| Breakdown in communication, something that happens far too often with the admin here.
Arel2010-07-06 02:55:37
The etching not working on wands was fixed just now. Try again for gauntlets and see?

I think someone went through the bug reports yesterday trying to prune things out, I got something returned as "not replicable" when I was able to replicate it 2s after reading the response with exactly the details in the report.

Essentially, just bug it again. Quote the announce post, quote the bug number. Not much else you can do. It is kind of frustrating at times, though.

I've had bugs returned for not being a bug, then fixed within 30s of me bugging it again, by someone different, I assume. Sometimes people just drop the ball.

I've had my bug reports combined with other people's bug reports for another problem entirely, and then not fixed.

BREAKING NEWS: sometimes the bug report system does not work very well
Eventru2010-07-07 02:48:39
Very old bugs (I don't know how long it takes to become 'very old') get automatically vague'd as well, under certain conditions (that I'm not familiar with) - by the system, that is.

...

Well, that explains why a lot of my old bug reports vanish and are still bugs! tongue.gif
Esano2010-07-07 02:57:36
Yes, yes it does.
