Dear Magnagora,

by Gavriel

Back to Common Grounds.

OK, so I read over this thread again.
I've been in Magnagora quite a few times, 'cause I'm one of the crazy people who like to move too much, and now I'm staying put in Magnagora.
Despite leaving and coming back, I know my place, and yeah, Beldoria is engaged to Ruiku, but that doesn't mean I should be treated any differently.
I fully know that if I get given crap, I deserve it for the amount of times I've left, and also I'm still a serf, and GR1.
I think the RP in Magnagora is pretty decent, though you do get the odd nasty person, but then I look at this as just a game when stuff like that happens, so..
If you're a new person, and you decided to play this "game", then you should expect that everyone is gonna be in-character all the time, and that it's not their real personality. Though the idea of maybe sending an OOC tell to someone, explaining this is a good idea, or maybe have one OOC HELP FILE to outline it...
I also think being treated differently as a lower ranking member of the city is good, if you get treated like crap, then well, work hard to get favours and get to a higher rank! I think it's good to motivate people to do something, whether it's for their own reasons of wanting to gain rank, or they're actually just doing it for the city, at the end of the day, you're going to get to the spot where you're the person dealing out the crap, to the people who were once like you, eh?

But anyway, whereever you go, whether it's in Serenwilde, or Glomdoring, or Magnagora or any of the other places, you're going to get people who get on your nerves, and the people who put you down, but that's pretty much the same as real-life, and at the end of the day it's a game, and we have the nifty SNUB buttons biggrin.gif

Edit: As for the combat thing, I'm only starting to poke around in the area. Very slowly. So I have no idea about the clans, even if I've heard of them in passing. In the past I've always known squads to be used? :S

Constructed from a single cherry bough painted an intense shade of vivid
pink, the body of this lyre is wide and smooth, shimmering with a subtle
golden hue. Elegant curves lead to extravagant rainbows, each colour
represented by scrolled daisies, which arc into snow white clouds edged
in iridescent silver. A thin silver bar spans the gap, from which
thirteen delicate golden wires are strung, secured into the base by pale
amethyst roses. Tied to each sparkling tuning peg is a thin,
butter-yellow silk ribbon encrusted in tiny diamonds, glittering in any
available light. The scent of flowers softly suffuses from the
instrument, lightly perfuming the air around it.

*twitch* *more twitch*

Seriously though, that could easily be mistaken for IC trolling, not to mention you're not exactly being a good citizen looking ridiculous with that. Can perfectly understand it would upset some people. Freebies aren't very Mag either.

What does my lyre have to do with being a good citizen? confused.gif

That is quite true, pink lyres are pretty awesome, like kitty claw nekai.

You know what those are? Traps. Dangerous traps designed by opposing orgs in a devious scheme to have members of your org use them and then get in trouble with more conservative elements of your org and sparking conflict and dissension within the org.

There's a Jamari chain with pink silk bows on it in the candyshop...
Razenth2010-07-19 23:11:07
There's also one made with the skulls of one's foes I believe. Vermilla designs for all kinds of people.

I got yelled at for using the Hello Kitty nekai once

Have a lyre that makes you look like an utter fool is not exactly giving the Engine the best image, so could be seen as inappropriate conduct. I'm not saying you should go black and dark and spikes and evil looking creatures but there's limits. I am all for lightheartedness in RP other than the usual serious business but you're making a serious complaint it seems.

Sidenote: Be a Geomancer.

You aren't questioned about having strange things around you. Jigan wears fuzzy pink slippers all the time, and no one questions it.

LOL why does that exist?
james2010-07-20 00:23:55
I really don't think having a pink lyre makes me look like a fool. Unlike some of the Cacophonists, I prefer not to have dead :censor: hanging of my instrument or having blood crust all over the strings. This is just an opinion, but it makes you seem like you are insane.

And honestly, if you have enough of a problem to tell me to get rid of something, by all rights you should pay for the new thing

It's because you are Jigan and you will cook anyone who goes against pink slippers

Lies and slander.

Jigan will also sleep with their mother, or sleep with their corpse before cooking it.

I am sorry but having a pink lyre doesn't necessarily make you look like a fool. It just means (depending on certain things) that that person likes pink. So freaking what. If he doesn't want to be like everyone else and have a macabre lyre then that's his choice. What you wield, and choose to kill people with is your choice. Unless you are -outrageously- dressed/wielding something (which, imo, a pink lyre is not) then people need to stfu. Our characters are all individuals within a society, so long as he continues to work for the better of Magnagora's society, there's nothing wrong with him having one (as far as we know) "silly/foolish" thing.
