I've got to admit that I was pretty disappointed with the Advancement scroll. It might as well have been borrowed from any other guild in Gaudiguch. It just feels like a whole lot of time to be assigned busy work that has almost nothing to do with being Illuminati in more than skills. At least that is how it felt.

Advancement exams/tests/whatever are never set in stone. The Aquamancers have changed their GR1 -> 2 test three times since I started playing.
EDIT: I suspect that the current Illuminati advancement has been set up the way it is just because there are so many people trying to advance and it's easier to grade busy work than to do full interviews about the organization's lore/RP. Just give things time to settle down and then you can probably revisit the Advancement scroll and make it more Illuminati-esque.

What else am I expected to do when nobody else, leadership or otherwise, in the guild offers any input on anything when I ask? Seriously. :/

Know your pain, it took awhile to find stuff I wanted in, and even now I'm adding stuff in to fix things up and give more variety. Especially for novice advancements for experienced people, I'm pretty easy going but I don't like going Okay! You shouldn't be a novice even though you've never been part of the city before/never been a warrior before for no reason.

Hell, the Sentinels are completely remaking their system from the ground on up.

We're adding flavourful parts to ours. ( Tlarras and Egran) but my nice grocery list is remaining, prove yourself ready to accept and bear the responcibilities of the guild and we trust you more! Plus, you can always go the Build-a-path(bear) route.
And looking of Aiyana's, it looks great to me. It's stuff you're going to need to do, or have, to be useful or be part of the guild so why not get recognition and favour for it? That's how I've always felt about advancements, you're probably going to do it anyways, so here, a little more incentive!

Woah. Woah. Woah. Every other guild is doing general tasks to get you from GR1 to GR3 and then letting you do the more "fun" stuff after that? Woah.

I'd rather the fun stuff be mixed with the general tasks. You know, so you don't have a long stretch of boring? Especially after its been so long as it is.

Now for what's between the lines - she didn't receive help, I'm guilty of this, and now I'm correcting it maybe a little too late. If you have a problem with the fact that our general tasks are boring...give feedback. Help her. Make the guild fun, don't sit there and complain about how you were disappointed...while you sat back and watched it happen.
That's kind of the highest form of insult, complaining about something you refuse to show any initiative on and then carrying on with it. Help her fine-tune it. She's been working harder than anyone else that I've personally seen and she could use more help.

Is your build-a-path method similar to the ones that the monk guilds were/are using? I really like that style of advancement, to the point that I tried to get the Aquamancers to switch over to it.
EDIT: For clarity, the monk guilds set up a whole list of tasks in a variety of fields (combat, defenses/curing, influencing, etc.) and with varying levels of difficulty for guild members to do, with each task assigned a point value. At certain point milestones, you earn an advancement.
And if you're doing something different, do share! I like to see how other guilds advance their lowbies. It gives me ideas.

Just a note, Narrative: If you have a complaint, you should vocalize it IC to the the appropriate people. Don't go griping on the forums about things that you haven't done anything about. People actually worked really hard on that, trying to figure out what would be the best way to build up the upcoming initiates into full members of the guild. You're not doing yourself or anyone else any good by complaining here, except maybe starting an argument.
On the other hand:
Still waiting on elections to finish, and finishing Order tasks. It's kind of exciting. o.o

See, I don't understand this. If people are unhappy, why aren't they saying something? Why aren't they giving ideas to "make it better"? Staying silent is rather counter productive, if you want change, then say something,.
The defence line "I'm not the only one!" doesn't work well in Gaudiguch, because it's been proved time and time again that more people prefer what's going on, than those who don't.

Because our GA wasn't around. Who were we supposed to give ideas to? Half of us didn't even know what the hell was going on. As was pointed out in another thread, the damn Champion didn't even know what was going on until I told him in said thread.
And Gregori, I'm just saying people think it could have been handled much better than it was. I just find it amusing when I get told the GM is already going to be replaced, however. That is not usually a good sign.

So you're too good to message me, or send me a letter, or a tell when I'm logged in? I was bothered that you were upset and wanted to fix things, but your complaint just lost all credibility with me.

Messages! They exist for a reason. Or, letters, if you want to be all fancy with proper paragraphs and stuff.

I wouldn't really know actually, not having spent time in any other guild that supposedly does this. Ours though, which people seem to enjoy and I've gotten praise over and no negatives aside from "I've already done it, why should I again?" (my reply is show it, get the favour, sit and be happy), is similar to my university semesters. You have a preset amount of mandatory courses (tasks for the advancement scroll) and a number of electives you need to do as well, but electives you get to choose from a list that are relevant to the Ranking you're doing. So, the first Ranking has you do three mandatory tasks, and choose an elective, then next two have one mandatory task and three electives. The Mandatory stuff is stuff we expect of a warrior, full set of curatives (minus sparkle, earwort and the water herb), have your weapon spec and tertiary spec, to having plate mail and a helm to having masterweapons. Electives run anywhere from having Teleport, writing a book/scroll, sparring, to donating goods or gold to the guild.

Yes.. because I was asked for help? I wasn't. I was never around to even hear anyone ask for help, largely because the person in charge of it was never around. Now, while not being able to log in isn't a crime, if that is going to happen you need to delegate your reeeally important tasks, such as guild advancement. And if no one was willing to help? Then clearly the guild is not starting off on the right foot.

The damn Champion didn't know because he didn't want to know really, because he is Champion not GA and it's not his department. Hell he shares a clan with us where we talk about this all the time.
Also, message aiyana HAI I have ideas!
Also, who cares if there is talk about replacing the GM already. If it comes to pass it comes to pass. That doesn't make it anything other than an election. Well except in your world of doom and gloom and nothing is good enough for you and your imaginary unhappy friends.

So you're telling me I should have expected to be unhappy? With all the time it was taking, I assumed there was a reason. I'm not privvy to the details of your private life. I don't know why you're not around or how often you are around when I'm not. Communication was horrible, and as I said, half the guild didn't even know what you were doing.

Aiyana was on every day except over the weekend, and she was gone from Friday night till Sunday evening for 4th of July stuff and work. OMG RL happens. she missed two days of Lusternia, let's tie her to a stake and burn her!
You seem to have the initiative to come crying on the forums, maybe you should take up some of that to say "hey new guild and I have some ideas, I wonder if Aiyana would like them, maybe I will message her and find out."
Or... you can continue crying on the forums, we can continue laughing at you and call it a night.
