Interesting..
So far to me Glom and Hallifax seem like the most interesting ones. I still like Magnagora though it being highly Militaristic.

Go with Glom. We're allowed to say things like a diet of babies will give your pet a good, healthy coat

You can pretty much track the various stances on Taint in Glomdoring by looking at the various incarnations of Viravain and their beliefs.

I was amused by that conversation.
Pectus makes the statement.
Pectus immediately panics and apologizes for the mistell! And begs people to forget.
Pectus is asked, "Erm. Why? There's nothing wrong with that."

I have another question kinda relating to this topic.
What are the relations between each race with the cities/communes? I noticed many races are banned from certain cities/communes and some races tend to join certain cities/communes due to racial history.

Each org has a spec race, essentially.
Serenwilde == Elfen
Magnagora == Viscanti
Celest == Merian
Glomdoring == Faeling
Gaudiguch == Dracnari
Hallifax == Lucidian/Trill
Mag is pretty highly anti Elfen and Merian, but they can still get in I believe. Don't know about Celest, but Serenwilde lets Viscanti in, though people will probably give you a hard time, and we are very strictly no illithoids. The rest I think are pretty much w/e with races right now.

Lucidian AND Trill. Hallifax is special like that.

Kephera are generally not welcome in Glomdoring. Here's an Ebonguard scroll you might find interesting.
QUOTE
The kephera are a race unlike any other in relation to the Glomdoring.
When they seek to join the Ebonguard, certain special conditions apply.
I. All kephera queens must be interviewed extensively for loyalty by at
least one of the guild chiefs.
II. All kephera must make all members of their hive known to the
leadership of the Ebonguard and the Glomdoring.
III. All kephera must belong to a wyrden hive or no hive at all.
IV. All kephera must swear the Vow of the Wyrden Hive (below).
If these conditions are not met by the time they leave novicehood, they
will be ejected from the guild.
Vow of the Wyrden Hive
I, (Kephera), forswear any loyalty to the foul queens of the Undervault.

You're missing one.
The Glomdoring was never Tainted. (While obviously false on an OOC level, it's still a valid belief IC! And I find it to be more fun.)

Is this that False Memory thing? I've never really understood it completely, but from what I do understand, that's what's going on in this school of thought. Please correct me if I'm wrong?

thats very helpful. I also noticed quite a bit of orclach being in Magnagora so I take it most members of a race tend to go for the same city.
off topic but how come their is 4 cities and only 2 communes. Are they planning to make 2 more communes or leave it like that. I think that is quite unbalanced personally.

To an extent.
It's mostly a view of those who were the first 'recruits' to the Glomdoring; it actually goes a bit further than that.
There is no taint. As such, the Glomdoring cannot have ever been Tainted. "Taint" implies imperfection, weakness, corruption, and the Glomdoring clearly has not any of those failings ever since its birth through the Lady.
The word "Taint" is simply a pretty label that others use as a pat explanation for why they hate. You are in the Serenwilde and wish an easy reason to attack the Glomdoring, or Magnagora? "It is tainted." You are in Celest and wish to 'cleanse' something but don't want to bother with an explanation? Just claim it is Tainted! Tada, you're free to go ahead.
That kind of thing. It's actually pretty interesting, though it doesn't get used much; but the Ebonguard even have a "final" Spirit task (we have one for Crow / Night / Nature), and Crow's is to take something that everyone else knows to be true, and... well. Don't believe it. You have your own understanding, and that's the way things are. Your will is the Truth, no matter what the others say. So yes, False Memory is related.

Originally there was 1 commune and 2 cities, with glomdoring being opened not too long after. Hallifax and Gaudiguch were released only recently.
In the histories there are 2 other major forests, which the admin aren't going to release until the playerbase builds up enough to support 2 more orgs.

Wouldn't get your hopes up too high for that coming soon, unfortunately. Was only like, 6 months ago that we got Halli and Gaudi and I think Estarra said they spent around a year working and coding the two of them. And these 6 months a lot of the admin's time was dedicated to getting the Warrior and Guardian guilds out for the new cities. =p

That's False Memory at work, yes. It's exactly what it sounds like: Remember events in a way that best suits the needs of the Glomdoring, regardless of what actually occurred. If that means rewriting history and disregarding concrete facts, so be it.
It's my favorite aspect of Crow.

Check back in a year, we may have bards.
Felicia2010-07-11 05:42:03
Eh... there are so many guilds as it is. I'm torn between wanting to see bards and monks for Hallifax and Gaudiguch someday, and not wanting to see Lusternia's modest player base divided even further. While it's true that everyone's still a part of their org as a whole, I think it's important to have mentors who share your own archetype, guild solidarity, and a critical mass of people for role-playing, furthering guild lore, etc.
Still, if we can bump the average number of active players by just ten people in the interim, that would almost be enough to support four more guilds. Existing guilds would shrink a tad, but the larger guilds would take more of a hit than the smaller ones, and it would average out pretty well.
New communes, though... there will have to be a substantial increase in active players to feasibly support even one, let alone two. I'm optimistic, but the MUD genre is shrinking rather than expanding, so it's a tad iffy. Hopefully the new incentives, like login perks and Elite Memberships, will help with that.
It's really too bad that moving from one IRE MUD to another without losing everything one has achieved is impossible. It would be interesting if IRE implemented a service whereby players in Achaea (for example) could trade in all of their lessons, artifacts and other assets for credits, then receive 2/3 that number of credits in the new IRE game they're moving to. Wishful thinking, I know.
