What makes a mage more effective at hunting?

It is quite shady and I'd like to hear the reasons why they did that from the admin, myself.
Unknown2010-07-14 06:53:02
Because the administration is constantly actively trying to undermine and ALWAYS favours .

At least that's the conspiracy theory I most often hear over the various ooc org clans. biggrin.gif

I saw warrior runes having to be switched and costing a lot of credits and I have to say this yet again. Make warrior runes a type of artifact that effects all weapons wielded pls or something of the sort. I don't even know how many credits I've spent on weapon runes.

Also, I was pretty pissed they started selling toruses but it somewhat went ok for me since they cost 1500 db which roughly equals 3000 cr if you were to trade 2 for 1 except for the fact they were giving out db like candy. That aside I was also disgruntled that estarra would not let me have an exit into ethseren within the guidelines yet narsrim got one into ethglom. Eh?

...wut? I thought they were non-organisational territory.

90% of this thread should be in a separate thread. biggrin.gif

I think the Rune of Charisma should be nerfed again, and a refund of the price paid by Ceren may or may not be in order. (How did it even get bid up that high in the first place?)

I'm all for warrior runes that affect all wielded weapons. I've invested over 3000 credits in runes, and now with skillflex, there's no chance that I'm going to try out other weapon specs and lose that investment.

Narsrim has an exit to the Dark Nest.

I have one to japh's pillar on celestia but ethseren was apparently too much for me to ask for and look what happens!
Rika2010-07-14 13:15:17
I can understand Celestia, seeing as it is already accessible by cubixes, but EthSeren/Glom should not be touched.
Sidd2010-07-14 13:37:05
pretty sure he has one to Etherwilde too, just saying
Placeus2010-07-14 13:44:31
What an awesome derail.

Clearly guards should be able to judge/chasm/decap. That way the rune is unchanged but no longer reduces guard effectiveness.

Edit because I feel bad for being snide about a derail and not contributing to the OP:

If you haven't yet learned a tradeskill, you could consider tailoring or enchanting. Tailoring splendours will increase your physical and magical resistances while enchantment opens up access to pentangle and hexangle which improve your staff if you have trouble finding enchanters in your city.

You might also consider learning influence if you haven't yet. Good mage races typically have decent charisma and you might find influencing opens up new options for gaining experience (guard stacks, your faction in the undervault, villages etcetra).

I don't see why it is a problem to have exits to EtherGlom/EtherSeren, especially given that the cubixes (whcih are cheaper than toruses) allow access to Celestia/Nil. Perhaps they should be added to the cubix exit points.
Sidd2010-07-14 13:53:20
the Cosmic planes are only accessible via rift/nexus/aethership, pretty easy just to walk through the archway into the ethereal planes.

Yes, please. No skill changes make you feel so trapped as what putting a lot of runes on a knight weapon does. sad.gif

I was pretty annoyed with that too.

Weapon runes affecting all wielded weapons would be nice, but we'd have to consider that people might actually be able to collect all the elemental runes at that point, then pick and chose which to allow to affect them (either via putting the others in a pack or some other means... actually, how would the game handle that anyways?). It's probably not a huge issue at this point, but it shouldn't be ignored before implementation should it be considered.

As for mage hunting, uh... don't forget to get a beast with heal ego and bodyguard at some point? We're on topic still. Really. hide.gif
Vathael2010-07-14 15:22:11
Beastheal is always good, yes. I've never used bodyguard but as far as my setup when I was Mage, I was illithoid tk so whatever buffs come as Mage plus rune of absorption splendours and shield rune and I like to think I was fairly tanky though for certain not on the magnitude of ceren but even then when he's not using his ego rune ie when he's not forcefielded he can still tank a lot which I don't understand but anyway, most of us just boil that down to him being him.
