ecologist charms do not work if you do not have the skill. I have tested this within the last month. Ecology temporarily forget ecology and we saw the the charm had no effect.

@ Soj we've already established that prone adds damage. It is 50% bonus damage if prone. PS I doubt we have the same defs due to domoths. I know this because you took less damage from it at a higher max health.

For whatever reason, the Gloms I test this on take significantly less damage. I'm not sure what causes this, and probably won't ever because trying to get a damage formula is like pulling teeth. I wasn't exactly aware of how much damage this thing did until Ixion pulled me aside.
So you can blame the upcoming rampage on him.

No, I was a Spiritsinger briefly, trained ecology and made a charm when I was at preciouscharm. With that, I did the testing with Nydekion's destruction. He had no more time then, so I continued testing with sipping pyrotoxin. When I got hardcharm, I noticed that I started taking more damage instead of less, so I forgot ecology again and started training anew to softcharm. And I had the best protection of all with that. But yea, forgetting the skillset makes the charm ineffective, I hadn't noticed that last time.
Had I only done the testing with pyrotoxin, I would have attributed the strange damage reduction behaviour to that, but the incredible damage reduction against destruction made it obvious that there is really something wrong.
Anyway, back on topic.
As I see it, the biggest problem is the choke tick timed closely with re-grappling. Maybe there should be no damage directly tied to starting the grapple at all, but only damage ticks over time, first starting exactly with the first grappling, but not necessarily with following re-grapples (if the necessary time hasn't passed, yet).

Post your defs during test and plate/helm stats, and we could figure it out. And yes hood/helm does matter for the kick than can combo with it.
Plate 107/107 helm 97/97 usually (defs just to show I have no defs at all to reduce its damage)

But yes hmm... I'd really like to know that as well. If those two defs aren't giving you more DMP why are you taking less damage at a higher maxhp?? Is a character file broken? I doubt it because Veyrzhul and others get this insane damage too.
