If you're playing the type of character that isn't very outgoing or forthcoming in their opinions, you're going to have a hard time finding people to interact with. Think of interesting things to say that advance dialogue.
In real life when you talk to someone, part of a conversation is trying to continue it without boring them. Never limit yourself to not talking to certain 'types'. Nobody is too good for you to talk to, whether you're a noble or snuggler.

Back before I got into combat and asked for spars (and met a ton of people that way), I actually asked for games of Chess/Bombard. Granted, most people would consider it a waste of time, but there's always a chance someone is just as bored as you at any given moment, and now with Fate and miniature battles, there's lots of fun little timewasters that go underutilized, and you can be an agent of change for that. And in Glom at least, I'm always willing to drag people with a decent bit of HP through good hunting grounds, or at least give them leads on new ones that they can survive, or help teach them basic fighting stuff if they just ask

Ditzy Scribe, I'm having the same problem as you. I've tried many of the guilds, but they're too quiet or just not too my liking. It doesn't help that both the characters I play and I are introverts. My own personal solution was to RP a cheerfullly violent existentialist psychopath (a work in progress).
I suggest you make an in-depth post in the 'Looking for Kids' section to find a family. Just like in your opening post, be thorough about what it is you're looking for and what it is you have to offer.

If quiet is your thing, being an introvert is good. However, if you're looking for more conversation, you may need to be the one to start it up. An online game is a great place to start up random conversations for fun, as you can always just start a new life when you mess it up REALLY bad.
Even though my character may seem big and scary, I really enjoy when the young ones in Serenwilde randomly ask me things or just start a bit of fun in the forest. It's a great break, and sometimes a reality check to let me know I'm playing a game and it's supposed to be fun. So, any newbies in Serenwilde looking for a friend are welcome to chat with Iasmos any time! (Plus, he's got boatloads of cash and may be persuaded to share it with those who need it.)

As many people have said, just talk to people. When I first started playing Lusternia, I just started talking to people in my guild and city and built a lot of friendships through that. You don't always have to talk to the older players, talk to other newbies and the new people, form connections with them, and eventually through them you'll gain more connections. Don't think that because the veterans have been around for a long time, that the newbies don't have any rp plans or such. The majority of people I know in-game were met through my guild, and many of them were either playing not that long before me or only a few months or so before me.
Kialkarkea - met through the guild, became good friends,
Lawliet - Guild
Fania - Guild
Denust - Guild
Jigan - city
Talkan - city
and so many more people were met through the guild and city and quite a few others become my ingame family members.
Just talk to everyone and anyone within your city and eventually you'll find someone to rp with. You could evenstalk observe people to find out their interest and just ask on your ct or gt for friends, hell wander the basin and visit the cities/communes partial to your org and maybe try and find friends there.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa. Whoa.
All of your free time should be spent tweaking and adding further improvements to Treant. There's no time for this "fun" business you speak of.

Alright, since this has degenerated into everyone assuming I'm an introvert, we can probably call it good.
Unknown2010-07-15 19:34:32
Your primary concern was the quiet on GT and CT, which is why we assumed you weren't doing much talking yourself, hence the introvert part. Plus, I was responding to others who joined in to say they feel the same sort of thing.
I've literally seen people just start conversations with themselves, keeping it up until others were so amused they couldn't help but start talking. It helps to be in an org where they share the same brand of wit, too. I love the Serenguard sense of humor in particular.

I don't know if you are or aren't an introvert, but my suggestion still stands. I'm convinced that the best RP experiences in this game start through OOC means, which is why I suggested that you make an in-depth family post on the 'Looking for Kids' thread.
I think trying to make conversation with strangers at the local nexus is a waste time, personally. It rarely leads to anything fantastic unless you're already 'in', and the more established players rarely speak to novices individually anyway - some of them hate dealing with novices.

Not exactly true. As I said I got to know some well-established people when I first started out, by actively participating in things. I was participating in defense on Nexus, with blast as my only form of offense.
It's all about knowing how to approach someone. Pay attention to the people around you and try to learn more about them to know how to approach them.

Very few people "hate" dealing with novices, if anything, they "hate" the teaching part when they first step through.
Finding a family, is a good step into group role play, Gaudiguch has a few of them, Disati, Naresni are two I know that are pretty Gaudi related, or started in Gaudi anyways, but there are lots of other families that are from other organizations that have come when the city opened.
Disati's always looking, we're working towards Great House and Historical family and asking IC about it will prove to offer more information!

I still wouldn't rule out the thread - put up your own Classified Ad about your PC and see what offers come in. You don't have to reach out and try and force yourself into the all-consuming Great Houses. My first ever Lusternia family came because two Talnaras (way smaller back then) saw my thread and PM'd me in-game asking if I'd like my char and his twin sister to join the family. I gave it a shot. He eventually grew up to be a GC, too, so I figured he had a good run, even though I no longer play him.

Hallifax is evil, don't go there. They have a horrible patron that stalks people.
You are my favorite, sir. Frankly because you pretty much made me read a little bit of history on the website. Guess what?
Anywho, I bring this up because it's another thing you can use to talk to people!! Go read through some of the histories on the main page. Perhaps start with the taint wars section of the new celestine empire, and read how Gaudiguch and Hallifax used their awesome projects against each other. In fact, this point exactly started a pretty large guild conversation, and the first time I heard a couple people speak on GT!
