Maneuvers description says:
"...Thus if you use a maneuver that consists only of a critical level wound, you lose the ability to do the lower level wounds, but in exchange you increase the likelihood of successfully making that critical wound happen."
It's at odds with what I've been told elsewhere, and how maneuvers are explained in places on these forums.
So, if I have a behead only maneuver, does adding slitthroat decrease the likelihood of a succesful behead (given wounds on the target are high enough for behead)?

No, it doesn't decrease it, a lower wound will never override a higher one, so if you have behead and you roll whatever it is that you need for it, then you'll get behead.

What's best practice: One target variable for everything, or multiple variables (bashing, combat, aetherhunting)?
How do you combat people handle remembering all the skills you have at your disposal? Would it be worth my time to code something that displays all my skills until I've somewhat gotten used to them?

I use the same variable for everything, except influencing, I have a different variable for that....helps prevent accidentally attacking something.
As for remembering your skills, make sure you create an alias for everything, even stuff you don't think you'll use, and practice combat a lot. Read through your alias's every now and then and recheck your ab files. Over time you'll memorize everything and get better at using those really situational abilities.
You can create echo's for situations where you know you have to do something, like if someone reads a protection scroll, echo that you need to dissolve (if you're a mage/druid).

There's only six writs in existence that I can see, if there should be seven that would be something to submit through a bug. (I can't judge on this as I am not familliar with this particular quest)
SHOWBUG 14044.
There are 6 writs.
One of them is a generic writ.
There are 6 caravans.
There are 6 bags of fungus.
The generic writ is, as near as anybody can determine, useless.
This means that the quest is pretty well borked. And this bug is about to time out (again) at which point I will get to rebug it.
I've had it in BUG status for about a RL year or so at this point. It's spent the entire time in Classified status, except when it times out and I get to re-submit it.

Iron Ticket Lottery, what is that?

Iron Lottery Tickets give you an entry into the weekly credit drawings. If you have some, take them to your local city/commune lottery room and LOTTERY EXCHANGE IRON TICKET to enter yourself into the drawing.

I'm porting my code to Mudlet without much of a hitch, but is there anywhere I can get a list of colours that will work with it? Or an overview of something more than fg() and bg()? Do they take hexadecimal colour codes, or just names?
Vadi2010-12-03 01:14:56
Running the showColors() will show the available ones. You cann use RGB colors with setFgColor(r,g, or setBgColor(r,g,

Aha, thanks!
EDIT: Damn you Lusternia. showColours() does not work.
Rika2010-12-03 01:26:39
I made myself an alias just so I can bring up that function whenever I want.
Furien2010-12-03 01:27:04
That works for me.

Oh, it's showColors() because the Mudlet people can't spell.

so I was looking for recent prestige winners in the world library but the catalogue says they are in an unknown annex, does that mean an admin still has to assign them an annex or will they never be made available at the world library?
small example of how they show in the catalogue
oh also can someone link me to the book of Igasho since it is not published on the main website yet

Ahem, it appears I'd been neglecting reassigning books to the appropriate annex for a while. All books are now in an annex.

The deadly phantom sphere, or sentinel sphere as it is called for its nigh-unyielding ability to keep watch over one's demesne, is an archaic torture device that has the power to kill your enemies. It requires a demesne to be larger than three rooms. Simply send it to your target's room and command it to attack. It will rest just inside your target's brain, and, on the fourth orb, you will feed it images so terrifying that your victim's heart will simply stop and they will drop dead.
So, in order to get a phantasms insta you need the victim to be afflicted with four spheres? Any other requirements?

They have to stick around, you have to not get killed. And you can't attack with it while you're in the room. I honestly love the skill if it can be pulled off, but otherwise, I'd rather just attempt to mindburst, or if group combat help others get the kill.
Aerotan2010-12-03 16:06:43
Y'know...a phantomsphere assault on Vortex would be almost unfair. Anyway, yeah. No diving, flying, or leaving your meld in any way, shape, or form, you can't die, and you can't be in the same room when adding a sphere.
